Articulate but immature fool
[Read the article: At her majesty's pleasure]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Kurth is a silly immature man who has wasted English taxpayers money .
He should have been instantly deported back to his homeland, with a permanent ban on returning to the UK. That would have saved tens of thousands of pounds and the drudgery of having to read his article.

Intelligent application of creativity
[Read the article: You can't stop a tidal wave with a fork]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"why haven't all those ex-programmers made a HUGE mark on the web? the answer is that there's a difference between intelligence and creativity. the programmer is highly intelligent - he or she can program anything you want - but you have to ASK first. without that, they are left twiddling their thumbs. and that's why all that's creative has been done with their products, but without *them*." - david sugarman
The best programmers are highly creative in the much the same manner as the best practitioners in any artistic field you may care to mention. All fields of human endeavour are composed of plodders (the vast majority of us) and creatives geniuses.
It's a common misconception held by non-techies that mathematical/technical disciplines have no use for creativity. This is probably the fault of they way youngsters are taught science/mathematics.
It often also a feeble attempt by those with a more obviously artistic bent(but low ability in the sciences) to bolster their egos and distract attention from their own deficiencies.
Coincidentally the elite programmes are busy working much a sresearch scientists do. The are inventing technology that allows 'creatives' to do things they have heretofore never dreamed of.

Creative, brilliant and balanced
[Read the article: You can't stop a tidal wave with a fork]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"Creative and brilliant doesn't document anything. Creative and brilliant doesn't feel like going to the meetings. Creative and brilliant doesn't like customer contact. Creative and brilliant is hygiene challenged. Creative and brilliant is unpredictable. Creative and brilliant is impossible to replicate."
The aforementioned characteristics (in the software world at least) are exhibited by poseurs, misfits and badly socialised wannabes.
Brilliance and geniality are and have never been mutually exclusive.

Working mother and wife in the White House
[Read the article: Michelle Obama's sacrifice]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Tony Blair's wife Cherie was/is a working mother and wife. Why can't the wives of US presidents/presidential candidates do the same?

You what??????
[Read the article: Stone Age women "created a future"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"But, other more talented, but less-attractive singers are never given a chance, which is bad"
Have a chat with a vocal coach and ask them if they know of many more talented potential starlets/singers than Beyonce out there in pop world. I'm sure they'll have to think hard and long.
Beyonce is so successful simply because she has an extraordinary voice (forget about whether her singing style appeals to your tastes) and the looks to match.

Which picture was Debra looking at?
[Read the article: Healthy, my ass]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Surely anyone can see that Buffie has a slim body with a large rear. It's also fairly obvious to most of us who know anything about people who's origins lie in Sub-Saharan Africa that most black women have a rounder more pert backside than do women with origins from Asia or Europe. So what!
Obesity is nothing to do with having a more prominent backside than the norm in this western culture. That's just the way we (Africans) are made. I'm a guy and I have a rounder bigger backside than almost any white guy for Gods sake! All those lads magazines Dickinson denigrates are simply a welcome recognition of black women's uniqueness. Why not pick on the obsession with disproportionately massive breast, stick thin pre-pubescent bodies that western culture constantly bombards all women with.
I've never heard of black women feeling/being forced to be or get fat for their men. On the contrary black women are essentially left to their own devices as far as figure goes and I'd guess they are happier with their body images as a result.
What are the odds that Debs has an unusually small booty for a sister and is just jealous ;-)
I can assure you that I and my friends have no fetish for obese women, but we are partial to a curvy figure and nice round booty.
Or Debbies remit is too write controversial things on daft topics that the sites white journalist dare not touch in order get page views from folk like me. Damn I've been suckered again.
Debra Dickinson should give up journalism and start a fish stall specialising in red herring. She'd clean up.

stop the complaining already (Lazy Lady)
[Read the article: Healthy, my ass]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"It is a different standard of beauty than the Hollywood one of being skinny and white, but it's still a "standard." In other words, women are still being told to be a certain way in order to gain acceptance. I thought it was sad when Buffie said she had to start drinking GNC protein shakes to gain weight and that now her only way of supporting her family is her ass."
So what about guys who have to support their family's by doing hard manual work? Or perhaps an athlete drinking protein powder shakes to bulk up? Get a grip! She's doing honest work. If she had any other talents that could earn the same kind of money she would have used them. Ce La Vie! Welcome to the world of a bread winner.
"Wouldn't it be nice if dudes of all races could just back off and stop telling women of all races whether to eat too much or too little depending on what got them off that week? Yeah, that would be great."
Men naturally express a preferences much as women are actively encouraged to do. That's a normal part of our mating ritual as a species. That preference doesn't have to suit or match your idea of what men ought to like.
The real problem here is your fragile ego. Do what you have/want to do and stop complaining.

Nothing new here then
[Read the article: Searching the Web in 3-D]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]This is an old idea that gets re-hashed every few years, by groups of young developers brought up on games who are trying to find a new interface paradigm. It's not even 3D in the proper sense. It's a two dimensional representation of 3D. You'd need a holographic display for true 3D volumetric displays. That would be overkill for current computing tasks.
