Belief
[Read the article: I don't believe in atheists]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]All,
In these postings, I see opinions, conclusions and inferences. On both sides.
Those with a faith in God point to their scriptures, to Creation,
http://www.icr.org/
to the science of Intelligent Design

the problem with evolution

Those with a faith in science and non-belief point to other sources...
an on and on..
In every case, with every person, a fundamental aspect of our nature is that we BELIEVE we are right... I do. You do.
The difference between me and some of you plainly angry "atheists" is that I am open to learning, to being further informed by the grandeur around us.
You don't seem to be aware of the simple fact that you DO have a belief. You belief in you. You believe you are right that there is no God.
That's okay. Go ahead, pray away, or not.
But goodness folks, could you at least admit that you are not perfect? That there is some shred of possibility you could be wrong about this? That there could be some essential truth that you may have got wrong here?
Look, we all make mistakes. We all spill food. We all offend our friends some times.
We, most of us, learn.
The most essential component to learning is the will to learn... and the understanding that we don't have all the answers.
You see? No. You are certain that you are right. It pisses you off that I might suggest that you are not the all-powerful mind that you see yourself to be.
Dudes and dudettes... think for a second. Think about a time when you weren't so all fired certain that God was a dream... is your life really so blessed now by your opinion that there is no God? Do you sleep better, make more money, meet more interesting people, laugh more.
I doubt it. As I say, atheists, as most know-it-alls that I have met, are an unhappy lot.
I sleep in the peace of God every night. If I die today, I will die happy and live forever.
What, other than death and taxes and American Idol, do you have to look forward to?
Maybe, just maybe, there might be a better way... just like when you are driving the wrong way, when you stop to ask for directions, you may feel bad for second, but headed the right way, and getting somehere, in life and while driving, is worth asking directions.
I challenge you this: Next time you are in a bookstore, grab a New Testiment, a copy of the Koran and some new book on atheism.... crack open each at random and read for five mintues. How do you feel after each short reading session? How do you feel?
Or, even easier, take one minute and consider this, for just one minute. What IF there was a loving God? What if life had a purpose? What if heaven existed? Wouldn't that be nice?
Hm?
