The Feminist Mistake
[Read the article: Why Obama should NOT pick Hillary Clinton as veep]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I love my wife. But sometimes.... I say something that sounds, to her, as if, somehow, I'm disparaging women.
Not a good moment for me.
This may be another.
First may I say, as a writer, an artist, a Scorpio and a male... women are, by far, the best gift God gave me (particularly my wife and daughter).
But... Hillary?
Come on folks, strip away the fact that she's a woman. Let's say she was just some graduate from a high-brow private school... a corporate lawyer and a Wal-Mart board member...
Let's say, for a sec, she was male. Would you be so gung-ho for her?
Really?
No. At least, I think not. She is female, and because of her gender, you flail.
Enough already. Let's agree that we do have a candidate, and work WITH him to do right by women.
Okay?

It's a very simple choice
[Read the article: Why Clinton voters say they won't support Obama]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Folks, we have two viable candidates for president: Barrack Obama and John McCain.
None of the shoulda, woulda, coulda talk will change that. Did Hillary get unfair coverage sometime? Sure. Did Obama? Did Romney? Did they all? Sure.
But.... now's it's down to these two. That's it. If you're serious about making your vote count. Sure, you can vote for Bob Barr or Ralph Nadar or the Yellow Pages, but the only two folks with a statistical chance of getting elected president is Barrack and John. That's it.
So, look at ALL their ideas, all their policies, all their history. Who, do you think, will serve us better. Who will make the country prosper and safe? Who will better protect your children, and see that they get an education, and a chance for a good life? Who will be a better president for all the girls and women in this country?
Is this really a question for you? Are you seriously not tuned in to the simple facts here?
Let me make it plain for you: Barrack Obama has a history, a plan and and outlook that will help women more than the history, plans and outlook that John McCain has.
So, let's continue to talk. Let's continue to break glass ceilings. Let continue to speak truth to power.
But please, don't do your fellow women, young and old, a disservice by staying home, or worse, casting a "protest vote" that will leave this country in greater danger, greater debt, greater stress, greater division than it is right now.
In short, don't let your estrogen make you do something foolish.
Fact is, there are two men running for president right now. One is for you, one will pander to you.
You decide.
And yes, it would be nice if you did consider the fact that there are some pretty okay men in the world too. Like Barrack Obama.
Barrack Obama was careful, throughout the campaign, to respect and support Hillary's run for office. The same can not be said of Hillary. She frequently lied, exagerated the facts, and smeared Obama. But he never replied in kind.
Consider that. Now, and in November.
Let me be clear about one other thing- Hillary's downfall is her fault. Not mine, not the media's, not Conventional Wisdom.
It's her fault. She had more going for her last year than any presidential candidate could hope for. A world-class brand, a money machine, powerful people all over the country ready to jump when she said frog... she had everything. She squandared everything. And more.
Hillary is a woman. And because of her husband, she got a run at the presidency. She messed it up. She did. Herself. The facts are plain.
Your choice is clear. Clear as day. Between hope and change and fear and loathing. Barrack is for hope and change. John McCain is for fear and loathing.
Make your choice. And then let's all work together to make the world better for women... and men.

Think about your daughters and grand-daughters
[Read the article: Why Clinton voters say they won't support Obama]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Ladies,
Ratchet down the estrogen for just a sec and think, for a second, about the hundred million OTHER women in this country. While you're at it, have a thought for the women in Iran and other places in the world that will be affected by this election.
Then, in that same minute, think about which of the two candidates will serve the women of this world better? John McCain or Barrack Obama.
John McCain is for war and bombing. Is is this good for women? John McCain will limit choice for women. This is his stated policy. Good for women? How about economics. John McCain is for tax cuts for the super-wealthy and corporations that ship jobs overseas. Good for women? Good for families?
Really.
Be honest. You're bitter about "your girl" not getting the nod. Okay. I can relate to that.
But to risk the lives and welfare of women and children worldwide for this bitterness is... well, what would you call it? Informed? Enlightened? Caring?
I think not.
Vote for change or vote for war. It's your choice.

A lot of flash, no fire
[Read the article: Why Clinton voters say they won't support Obama]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Hey PUMAs... go ahead and do whatever you want. Slate.com and other sites prove... you don't matter.
You are a small clot of overly hormonal or undereducated people who don't really understand what's at stake in this election... and really, because of your puny PUMA numbers, you just don't matter.
So, rage away and be, at best, a bother and a bore.
What. Eve. Er.
