re: Anonymous 1

Anonymous 1 is just making up everything he says, or repeating what he heard from Rush Limbaugh, etc. Most knee jerk reactionaries like him are chronic liars and intellectually dishonest, not to mention petty thieves. Don't ever hire someone like him as a security guard where he as access to small items he can pilfer.

Why do I read this abortion rag?

Abortion is an evil. If you want to argue that in some cases it is the lesser of two evils, that is one thing. But to act as if its no different then having a cyst removed is revolting. This 'liberal' crusading for abortion is why many people vote against their economic interests and vote Republican. They find the promotion of abortion as if there is nothing wrong with it morally offensive.

I find it perplexing that many people that are all far killing foreigners in unjust wars oppose abortion. While many of those that oppose war strongly favor abortion. It doesn't make any sense. You would think people would be more intellectually consistent.

Or maybe the people who are so fervently pro-abortion don't really care about the war and U.S. imperialism. Perhaps there are really two different audiences involved. If that's the case, we should have two separate magazines.

And what's with all these men rah rahing abortion? What's their dog in this hunt?

Well, I mainly read Salon for the political articles, as well as some other general interest and entertainment news. But I don't fit in with this rah-rah abortion mindset. Don't count on me to renew my premium membership.

Sopranos, ho hum

I started renting this show from Netflix because of the rave reviews, but couldn't make it through the first season. I gave up after the episode in which Soprano threatens his daughter's soccer coach because he was going to leave for better job. After that stupidity, I checked on IMDb, and found the shrink was in almost every episode. I knew I didn't want to watch five more seasons of him going to the shrink every episode, so I bailed.

Why so many people think this show is so great baffles me. I guess it beats watching paint dry.

Hell yes Jenna should serve.

You people defending Jenna Bush's right not to serve make me sick. If she campaigned for her fascist father, then she shares responsibility for his election and the continuation of this war. If she'd campaigned against him, and openly opposed the war, then she'd get a pass. She, unlike almost everyone else, is in a position where if she opposed the war, it would get a lot of media attention, and have some positive effect. Has she come out and condemned the war? No.

Send her rotten ass over there. I'm tired of the criminals who wage this war getting a free pass for their children and relatives, while sending others to die.

Great analysis. Amazing how people who should know better repeat the myths that those in power seek to perpetuate about themselves. For Bush to call himself a Christian is blasphemy. In fact, extreme right wing militaristic Christians aren't really Christians either, though they may believe they are. But Bush knows he's not a Christian. He's a liar and a con man.

Good tips, if only people would use them.

I already do some of what's suggested. Mainly I avoid jack rabbit starts, and start coasting when I see a red light. What amazes me is the number of people that fly to a red light just so they can slam on their brakes. Maybe a drivers license should require an IQ test.

A little off topic, but why was her head out of the car?

Not to disrespect the fallen, but why did she stick her head out of the car? World politicians learned not to do this 45 years ago when Kennedy was assassinated. She knew there were death threats against her. She knew many powerful people and many different political factions wanted her dead. She knew how dangerous that region of the world is, and its long history of assassinated leaders. Didn't her security staff try and protect her from unsafe and dangerous behavior? Was she really that careless to stick her head out of a car sunroof with thousands of people around? I hate to say it, but partially, its her own stupid fault she's dead.

Original article: CNN's John King responds

Where's the beef?

John King claims he was contentious with McCain in other parts of the interview and in the past. Can he get CNN to post those segments online?

It really hurts his case that he makes these claims that he did ask McCain hardball questions - not just the softball ones seen, but gives no evidence for it.

It makes it seem like he's full of bullshit.

An aside on CNN

I've never had cable. I don't watch enough TV to justify the cost. So until recently, I had never really watched CNN, except for brief glimpses now and then. But I was always under the impression it had a good reputation.

Then at work, they put up a TV in the break room with CNN playing all the time. So now I can watch CNN on breaks and during lunch. I was shocked at how lame it was. Politics aside, the quality seemed really low. Even the over night 3 am news on ABC seems like a much more quality broadcast. And FOX is worse? Why would anyone watch these lame newscasts?
