I have read all of your articles regarding Obama, over the last few months (I read your other articles also) and you have been thoughtful and challenging. It has help me to rethink my position on him, especially your article on him being biracial.

I love the headline for this article, because it does explain and as you say, seals the deal. This is not affirmative action deal, where we throw a black man into the mix because it is the right thing to do. This about getting someone in office who knows what they are doing, willing to listen and learn and just happens to be black. Mind you, we probably have any number of black men and women who would come close to this assessment, but that the country now seems to be ready to actually elect a black man is historic on more levels that I can say.

When the Berlin Wall came down is '89 and when the Soviet Union died in '91, the day before I would (and did say) not in my lifetime. Guess what? I was wrong and I am glad. For me, as a black woman, this is incredible. Win lose or draw Barack Obama is the man for many years.

There were people there who also responded that people make mistakes.

I'm not a fan of the Senator by any measure, but the crowd didn't only jeer and in fairness to the crowd that should also to be stated.

  • who's running for President???

    Joan,

99% of the time we are on the same page, even the same line, but I have to ask seriously, what difference does it make what Rev Wright says, once Obama has declaimed his views? Your statement beginning with "... Let me say I don't believe Barack Obama believes..." is offensive to me. He has already said he doesn't agree with the Rev. Let it go. Rev Wright is not running for President, Barack Obama is, and this guilt by association only seems to working for Obama. Rev Wright, Bill Ayers. Was Obama, when he decided to run for President, to purge his relationships of all but the squeaky clean?

If you remember Obama pointed out that Wright was a man from a different time (I don't excuse some of the things the Rev. has said, but I understand where he is coming from). As a black woman, who has tried to remain clear about the whole race and gender issue, I have got to tell you that this attitude that it is okay to attack Wright because he is Obama's former pastor, is ridiculous and I am angry that it is enough to bring down a man running for this office. Find me some real issues that say that Barack Obama is not qualified to be President of the United States. I might add that the media coverage focusing on John Edwards' hair was just as deeming to this country.

Pastor Wright is an American citizen who has the right to say what he wants and Barack Obama should not have to apologize every time he opens his mouth.

When was the last time we had an election based on the qualities of the person running for office and not on their selection of friend. I know that the people you hang with (oops poor choice of words)tell something about you but enough already. How much has the press said about Pastor Hagee?

Last week you had a piece on the sexist attacks on Hillary Clinton and there is much truth in your assertions. Is she to be faulted for what her husband did during his presidency (although she wants to take credit for the good stuff)?

Let's deal with candidates please. No more long winded comments about something that I believe is not news.

  • Amen

I love Olbermann,so to know that Rachel Maddow will be following him starting 9/08/08, is like a dream come true.

This woman is bright, smart, and witty. I think Dorothy Parker would have love her.

In a year of major disappointments, someone has finally gotten something right.

    Welcome Rachel!!!

I have my guilty pleasures and Jason Statham movies are one of them.

No brains, no morals, just fast dumb action, with a good looking guy.

Stephanie I like your style, ever since you got me to "Children of Men" twice. That review was awesome.
