Wow! Understatement of the year and story of the year in the same article.

As we say in the hood HH, "You ain't said nuttin but a thing in this article, for true!"

Look, even though it's all quite explainable it's all something to be amazed at, as well. We've been actually striving for some time for someone to blame our troubles on, and a way to claim fame in a society that is free but that only values certain things.

Freedom ain't easy under those circumstances, man.

It's even more difficult when you drug yourself with blaming others for your problems and/or make claims (or even increasingly worse commit offensive and violent acts on a mass level) that are outlandish to the point of jaw dropping regardless of taboo.

The question is how insensitive can this allow us to become. Internalizing one's behavior is defense mechanism number one. We can justify almost anything that way. You know, act as if we haven't been in a war for five years. We're just caught up in managing a surge against some really bad, bad people and right after the next commercial break...You get the point.

Ultimately, intervention by adults, or something similar to the laws of physics in human terms, will just bring us an outside force greater than our momentum and stop this runaway train we have become.

In other words, stay tuned.

2008 is a sequel you don't want to miss!

Great article…excellent job!

What a fucking way to start the New Year!

Shapiro, you gushed over Obama when he first appeared on the scene. Check your own reporting, man. Right after his speech at the 04' Convention you all but crowned him king whenever you made mention. Now, 72 fucking hours before caucus, and after who knows how many words of glowing praise, you come to find the man a hollow figment of your childess imagination.

Thanks! You fucking idiot!

Thanks to Salon also. I see that they can't put together enough discipline to work within the limited budgeted that this site is involved with. Instead of assuming their readers are intelligent enough to be patient with less frequent stories that have much greater weight, Salon continously slings this shallow, shrill, buzzword based set of articles and claims just the opposite.

I've taken to reading your political coverage for laughs.

But this takes the cake.

Get a fucking real job, Shapiro.

Grow the fuck up, Salon!!!

GROW THE FUCK UP!!!

Superb victory speech? What fucking planet are you on?!

Listen Joe, by and large I like you. You don't give in to exagerration and adhere to journalistic manipulation. (You know the one where making sure both sides have something negative said about them so that the press can keep a story alive?)

But that Obama speech last night was right out of a friggin Disney movie. Somebody should have cued the music and rolled credits on his pap early. When are you guys going to stop pussy-footing around and see this kid as the interloper that he is. The Democratic Party has a wide tent and once and a while those not wished for act as if they've not only been invited...they even go on to act like the party's just for them.

Hold yourself to the same standards in your reporting you request of Clinton in her campaigning. See Obama as this almost Shakespearen evil doer who's trumpeting his stance about a tragedy to such an extent, you can't help but wonder if he's happy its occurred so he can claim insight all others lack. Why do you think this kid talks in dreamy terms? Obama has no interest in discussing specifics, and not for the reasons you believe.

He's actually quite effette and shys from confrontation.

Please do a better job, Joe.

Please.

Please don't let the public have another incredibly bad choice made easier by failed political reporting...especially when politically reporting now exists 24 hours a day...7 days a week!!!

Obama is prone to leaning right whenever pressured. He's hoping to scare off all Democrats that way.

Please wake up.

Please!!!
