Original article: The return of Larry Craig?

What is this with the Vitter vs. Craig stuff?

The differences between these two situations could not be more wide. You don't go in bathrooms for sex. Period. Be it gay sex, regular sex, animal sex or any other...It's a perverted thing.

Period.

Continually, though, we are having those who supposedly are ardent supporters of gay rights equate Craig's failure with discrimination against gays. All they are doing, though, is showing how out of touch they are with the vast majority of people; most gays included!

There is a significant issue surronding Craig's conduct, too. While the focus is on supposed Republican hypocrisy, man, that's news, we are so missing the point that once again a self-hater has a position of power.

Does the name Clarence Thomas ring a bell!?!?!?

Please, please, please, stop toying with this situation and hoping in the end it will usher in a brighter day. The people of Idaho are being manipulated by an abusive use of a high office while many are opening up avenues for that to be done. But not one comment at all is being made about that!

Original article: TV's triumphant overclass

Boy, are your industry friends going to be pissed!

There's a thin veneer motivating "Hollywood Magic" and you just ripped into it, for sure. Maybe they'll eventually forgive you since you left the fifties alone. Or maybe they'll tell everyone that at least the middle class is assuaged instead of enraged by the "beautiful people."

Remember "The Hand that Rocks the Cradle?"

Is that what you wnat the masses to aspire to?

Let them think they're eating cake, women!

Leave Hollywood alone, why don't you? Can't you see how important their work is!?

Spears, Petraeus, et al...

You cannot tell me there is no relationship between this failed cultural icon, and the failed political establishment recently witnessed. To do so is only to participate in further denial. To do so is only to make sure that whoever makes that claim is to continue to live off a society careening out of control similar to a parasite uses a ill host.

What was more theatre, actually?

Here we have an actual war as out of control as one can be hidden from view by propoganda and its cousin, threats of treason. But no one lifts a finger to stop it.

NO ONE!

MoveON.org was "brave" enough to try, I guess. I appreciate their efforts to inform me that the General may be biased. I would've never known if not for their vigilent fucking AD!!!

IN THE NYT THEY HAVE SO OFTEN COMPLAINED ABOUT, NO LESS!!!

Brittany is a child. A damaged human being on a psychological level bordering on breakdown that this country is cranking out in droves. We use to make autos. Now we just drive them beyond our means and forget all the while these are efforts that define us. Refuse, actually, to accept that America has problems. I have tears for Brittany Spears. I have disgust for the average citizen who sees her failures as a requiem for cruelty.

Ask your fucking selfs!, what camp do you belong in?

Original article: How secure are you?

Archaeology is the shiznet man.

Archaeology should be a required class in every high school in the country, bar none. There would be no way any hint of racial superiority could exist if it were. From the remarkable first beginnings of humanity marked most definitively, even to this day, by its eventual global spread over millenia from an outright central location. Right down to the moai statues of Eastern Island, humankind's acheivements would be, for good reasons, branded into our hearts and minds in order that we know that humanity has accomplishments regardless of ethnicity, place, time and/or race.

Ice Age Art can quell any ego, forever!

As to Ms. Paglia's comments with regard to pop culture I was saddened they didn't include the Mike Vick incident. How could she comment on British sexual rage en mass via sport events, and not mention the tribal insticts of Americans in their mob attack on Vick?

Are not more dogs put to sleep due to their commoditization as "family pets" than anyone cares to mention?

Far be it from me to question Paglia's insights. However, I do think she missed something central here. Enjoyed the article nonetheless.

Viva la Salon!

Original article: Am I in bed with MoveOn?

Joan, you're becoming a joke.

You are in bed with MoveOn. In the sense that you both are part of the chattering class, you both are actually part of the problem.

Do you really think you are adding anything of value by countering the right-wing's point of view?

Glad you're getting your regular diet of Brittany Spears' type moments, though.

Whoopee! Joan/Salon/Liberal Edge is on mainstream media!!!

A victory for all, right? Yea, except for the Iraqis.

Seems like even the "liberals" have forgotten about the little people. Maybe being overscheduled really is a problem. Stick to Salon, Joan. Be a "Journalist", or all you guys supposed to be "Celebrities" too?

Finally, B-More gets it props; but I still gotta go with Tony and his crew.

Port cities have tails to tell. But, as this article makes clear, without happy endings they often don't get heard. Baltimore, in fact, goes back to "On the Waterfront" with rich drama. Steiger hanging from a meathook resonated more than Brando's "I coulda been a contenda." That's a city that will never die, even though it's often in the death grips of the day labors of the dock.

But ulimately humor is going to be part of the equation. The Sopranos were married to it, and, consequently, we got to understand much more about the seedy underside that makes us what we are. Being a Mob Boss in Jersey is the biggest joke of all. And, sure, Tony loved animals and cultivated himself with history. But in the end we got the point. Over-fed, over- anxious, cruel to the point of murderous...King of his Castle Tony, added to our lexicon an ethic of "Yea, I'll be human. Just as soon as the rest of the world gets its shit together and stops scaring me half to death."

You don't get that from The Wire. You get enough, but The Sopranos give you just a little bit more.

Great article guys, thanks!
