Not quite

They already have 10 day contracts.

Actually, MLB does not have 10 day contracts. That's the NBA. The closest anyone could do to a per-start contract would be to sign for a base salary with performance bonuses based on appearances or innings pitched, etc.

Um, thrasher

The failure to properly deal with the various church scandals isn't about the value of dogs vs. people; it's about how people in power value have always valued powerful institutions such as the church more than people. If Cardinal Mahoney had been turning a blind eye to a dogfighting ring instead of peodophilia ring for almost 40 years, he would have gotten away with that too. And if Michael Vick raped a little boy, he'd be going to prison for far longer than even the potential maximum 5 years he faces in this case, if he actually managed to survive there.

Answer to Anonymous Question

Question

I don't understand what all the hoopla here is for 30 Rock, so perhaps someone can tell me without simply insulting my intelligence for suggesting that only smart people can get it.

Why all the comparisons to Arrested Development (which I was absolutely over-the-moon in love with)? What makes 30 Rock so similar? And, perhaps most important, when did 30 Rock become that kind of show? I found the first five or six episodes mediocre and stopped watching (better things to do).

Thanks for your help with this.

--Anonymous

You simply stopped watching before 30 Rock found it's bearings, which was around episode 8-10.

Erm

I'm fairly certain that Joey Santiago's Filipino-American Pixies guitarist self would disagree with the idea that the Pixies were "as white as white can be." Might as well claim they were all male while your at it.

As for many of the complaints about the article not mentioning certain artists: the article isn't a history lesson; it's a record review. Even mentions the boxset being reviewed a few times, including at the beginning.

Selig's demeanor

at his press conference reminded me of semi-quaaluded version of Jimmy Swaggart howling about how everyone else was a whoremonger -- a few months before getting caught with a prostitute.

And just as quickly as their lord and savior gets called on being the scumbag he is (again)

the wacky loons at the The Church of Bobby Knight come out screaming and howling about how their chosen, petty little tyrannical bully of a god is misunderstood. It's enough to make L. Ron Hubbard envious from the grave.

Actually it's writing about music

is like DANCING about architecture. Said by (depending on who you believe) Frank Zappa, Steve Martin, or Elvis Costello. Or someone else.
