GLENN, WHAT ABOUT AL GORE?
[Read the article: Enforcing the community's foreign policy orthodoxy]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The last week or so has seen GG focusing on the so-called Foreign Policy "Expert" Community, with its single minded embrace of "Pax Americana", or, more accurately, "Guerra Americana." As GG has pointed out, the current Demo front-runner, Hilary Clinton, is fully "in bed" with the foreign policy "experts." I ask this question: Is Al Gore also beholden to the "Foreign Policy Community", or, in his embrace of "war" against Global Warming, canhe free himself and America from the lock-step Imperialist Foreign Policy Community? If not, God help us all....

FABULOUS ARTICLE, JOAN
[Read the article: "We have failed on every promise"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Joan, I happened to read the article you highlight today prior to reading your post. It should be required reading of EVERY Congressperson and Senator, along with an article this spring by Scott Ritter, about the Sunni-Shia divide, which is well over a thousand years old. We have no business fighting a war in Iraq. The question is, do the Democrats have the cojones to actually stop the war, or at least substantially restructure it, or will they simply cave again to Bush? Given the last minute cave to Bush on the wiretapping bill, I am not hopeful....

ANOTHER FABULOUS GREENWALD ARTICLE
[Read the article: The rigid pro-war ideology of the foreign policy community]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Kudos to Glenn Greenwald, who is clearly rested and ready from his few days "off." I can only hope that his message gets through to the voters.

DEMOCRATS MUST GET THEIR COJONES BACK
[Read the article: Why is the Democratic Congress so unpopular?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I was not asked to answer the latest poll, but I certainly would tell a pollster that I don't approve of the Democratic Congress, especially after the FISA disaster in early August. The current Congress shows no more cojones than the previous one in challenging Bush's blatant unlawful behavior with FISA and the Iraq War. It's time for Pelosi and Reid to "out" the Blue Dogs, and force them to either adhere to Democratic principles, especially on FISA (warrantless wiretapping) or to bolt from the Party. Where are the "Blue Dogs" going to go, to the Republicans? Doubtful. The "Blue Dogs" are not a majority of the Democratic Party, and yet their point of view is RUNNING the Party.

CAN WE IMPEACH DIANNE FEINSTEIN?
[Read the article: Dianne Feinstein, symbol of the worthless Beltway Democrat]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Can we impeach Dianne Feinstein? Just kidding, of course. As a Californian, I was already appalled at Feinstein's ridiculous votes in July and early August, in favor of Bush's NSA bill, and the vote in the Judiciary Committee in favor of another far-right judge. I can't believe that she was suckered into voting for the MoveOn condemnation. I joined the many people who made donations to MoveOn following the Senate's vote to censure MoveOn. In August, I wrote and snail-mailed a letter to her, blasting her positions on these issues. I've not received a reply. Thanks, Glenn, for an OUTSTANDING article about Dianne Feinstein, "Democrat" in name only.

It's about the First Amendment, Stupid!
[Read the article: Columbia to be punished for hosting the new Hitler enemy]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Columbia has every right and responsibility as an institution of higher learning to expose its students to all points of view, even those that the majority finds repugnant. This is a basic thesis of the First Amendment right of Free Speech. Unless Ahmadinejad were to foment a riot by his speech, he has every right to give his views of the world, as warped as they may be.
The Right Wing Noise Machine is getting louder and louder, with the mainstream press willfully playing along. We need a Democratic Party that will stop this madness, or we must form a new party.

CLINTON OR GORE?
[Read the article: David Brooks and the deceitful tactics of the Beltway pundit]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Glenn's update about Clinton's recent swing to the left with her anti-war votes has provoked a discussion about Clinton that intrigues me.
I have detested Clinton's centrist moves ever since she was elected Senator in 2000. On the other hand, I watched her interview on ABC on Sunday, and she supported one thing that I strongly agree with: public financing of campaigns. Although she and her husband have always gotten their money from the corporate trough, if she puts her money where her mouth is, and gets such a bill passed, it will assist the process of restoring our democracy.
I still wish Al Gore would run. I have written him countless letters, urging him to run. So far, Clinton has not addressed the global warming crisis, which, by physical evidence, the record ice melt this summer in the Artic, appears to be getting even worse than "An Inconvenient Truth" predicted. Unless she addresses this issue before the primaries, I will not vote for her.

YOU GO, DAN!
[Read the article: Dan Rather stands by his story]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I read both Blumenthal's article today, and William Rivers Pitt's article yesterday in truthout on Dan Rather's lawsuit. You go, Dan! I certainly believe that the so-called "forged" documents were planted by the right-wing, in a successful attempt to lead the public astray on the truthfulness of the Rather story. There's absolutely no question that Bush avoided military service during the early 70s, and was AWOL from his service in 1972.
The question for me is, how do we turn off the Right Wing Noise Machine, (RWNM) which continues to shape the Mainstream Media's (MSM) view of the world, even today, even after the 2006 elections? There is ample evidence of their complicity in at least a half dozen "stories" that turn out to be blatant falsehoods, and, yet, the MSM continues to listen to them, FIRST, before consulting the actual truth-tellers today, the so-called "left-wing" blogosphere.

YOU GO, GLENN!!!
[Read the article: Fox News' attack on the honor and integrity of our war generals]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I'm with GG 110 percent! The RWNM has successfully neutered the MSM with its ridiculous opining and constant "noise" about this, that or the other issue. The rest of us, both center and left, have simply ignored it for far too long. It's long past time that we have to fight fire with fire. Udall's censure resolution should include not only Limbaugh's ridiculous comments about "phony" soldiers, but should include Fox's equally ridiculous commentary by David Hunt.
