  • PALIN'S AN EXTREMIST, PART IV

[Read the article: Will the GOP's negativity produce a backlash?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

In fact, Juneau observers note that Palin kept her hand stuck out as far as anyone for pork ladled out by indicted Sen. Ted Stevens. She only opposed the "bridge to nowhere" after it became clear that it would be politically unwise to keep supporting it, these same insiders assert. Then, Palin fell back on her old habits and publicly humiliated him for pork-barrel politics.

As for being "ready on day one" to be commander in chief, despite the repeated public claims she's made, the Alaska National Guard commander said that, "she has made no command decisions, other than sending some troops to help fight a few brush fires and march in parades at county fairs."

    "Sambo Beat the Bitch"

"Palin is a conniving, manipulative, a**hole," someone who thinks these are positive traits in a governor told me, summing up Palin's tenure in Alaska state and local politics.

"She's a bigot, a racist, and a liar," is the more blunt assessment of Arnold Gerstheimer who lived in Alaska until two years ago and is now a businessman in Idaho.

"Juneau is a small town; everybody knows everyone else," he adds. "These stories about what she calls blacks and Eskimos, well, anyone not white and good looking actually, were around long before she became a glint in John McCain's rheumy eyes. Why do I know they're true? Because everyone who isn't aboriginal or Indian in Alaska talks that way."

"Sambo beat the bitch" may be everyday language up in the bush. Whether it – and the outlook, politics and worldview Palin reflects when she says such things in public – should be part of a presidential campaign is another thing altogether. The comment says as much about McCain as it does about Palin, and it says a lot of things about Americans who overlook such statements (as well as her record) and vote anyway for McCain.

  • LET'S DIRECT OUR ANGER AT NBC

[Read the article: The right dictates MSNBC's programming decisions]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I am going to write (and call) the NBC executives who are responsible for the decision to "demote" Olbermann. If I didn't work as a poll worker, I would have watched Olbermann's coverage of election night. Now, I will watch PBS instead. Don't just stay on this blog - let NBC know. That's how the right wing does it - we need to be just as loud.

  • KEEP UP THE FABULOUS WORK, GG!!!

[Read the article: Do journalists have any obligations beyond their self-interest?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

GG, once again, you prove that your existence is a thorn in the side of the MSM, which is currently in bed with the RWNM. The RWNM, and, by extension, the McCain campaign, is still running the "show." The only hope for the future is that this time, Obama's call of "Enough" will ring true for enough voters to overwhelm the pundits and MSM "journalists."

  • EXCELLENT ARTICLE, MR. COLE

[Read the article: What's the difference between Palin and Muslim fundamentalists? Lipstick]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Excellent article, Mr. Cole. I hope that your article is widely distributed. We must get the truth out about Sarah Palin's extreme views on a variety of subjects.

  • KEEP IT UP, JOAN

[Read the article: John McCain's cowardice]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

We need you, Glenn Greenwald, Gary Kamiya, and all of the Salon writers to speak with one voice about McCain-Palin: enough is enough! We will see if the MSM will return to the long-honored role as truthteller, or continue its current fascination with its role as "spinmeister," beginning with Charlie Gibson's interview tomorrow with Sarah Palin. He needs to be every bit as hard-hitting as he was with Barack Obama this last spring, when he repeatedly confronted Obama with Jeremiah Wright and other faux controversies. Please continue with the excellent Salon reporting of various Palin inconsistencies and far-right-wing views.

  • I'M SO MAD I COULD KISS A PIG WITH LIPSTICK ON IT!!!!

[Read the article: New heights of stupidity]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I'm so mad I could kiss a pig wearhing lipstick! I think its time that the Obama campaign take a little of its $$$ kitty, and run a national ad repeating the "Enough is enough" speech that Obama gave this morning. Despite those who warn that issues don't win elections, personalities do, this is an election that can be won EASILY on the issues, especially the economy. We are really flirting with the second great depression, given all of the warning signs that have come this year. Obama should win on economics alone. The "pig" reference was clearly NOT about Palin, it was about McCain's lousy economic policies.

  • BEEN BUSY PROTECTING EVERYONE'S RIGHT TO VOTE

[Read the article: Colin Powell condemns the ugliness of the Republican Party]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I haven't been able to read GG's comments and blog over the last several weeks, having gotten a full-time position with the local county elections office. I have personally handled thousands of registration forms that have come in, and will probably work three weeks straight (every day) beginning tomorrow. I note in particular one batch of registration forms, that I was told were submitted by ACORN, and needed careful review. Of the approximately 200 forms that I personally reviewed, NONE were suspect, and, in fact, more that the average amount were from REPUBLICANS! (The average for this county appears to be about 10 to 15 percent, at least of the new or revised registrants) So much for the supposed left-leaning bias of ACORN!

Please, PLEASE, go to the link in GG's article, and donate to the NO on Prop 8 campaign.

See you in a few weeks.

  • PS, SAW POWELL ENDORSEMENT THIS AM

[Read the article: Colin Powell condemns the ugliness of the Republican Party]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

PS, I saw Powell's endorsement this AM. While I agree that he is too "conservative" for me, he certainly is a heck of a lot better than the crazies that pass for conservatives in the current political scene. Maybe, just maybe, Obama can win this election, perhaps even in a landslide that results in a filibuster-proof Democratic Senate majority and an increased majority in the House of Representatives. Keep the GOTV activity going, and I will do my best to protect the vote in my own county by being a fair, accurate and honest election worker.
