  • I AGREE WITH YOU, JOAN - CLINTON OR BIDEN

[Read the article: Are Kaine and Bayh the best Obama can do?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I agree 100 percent with you, Joan, on today's article. Either Clinton or Biden would be excellent choices. Although I was a strong supporter of Obama in the primary campaign, his FISA reversal shocked me, especially when Clinton voted the correct way, both on the cloture vote and the actual vote on the bill itself. Clinton seems to have had a genuine change of heart when it comes to rampant militarism. The only problem for Obama will be Bill, who is always hanging around his wife like stink on s..t, at least in this campaign cycle. Biden is my alternative choice, if only because of his superior foreign policy credentials and world view. I think it would be a mistake for Obama to ignore either Clinton or Biden, and go with a relative unknown newcomer such as Kaine or Sibelius. Jim Webb would have been an exception to that rule, given his very strong start in the Senate, and given his prior experience in the Carter and Reagan Administrations. Webb took himself out of the running.

  • STILL A "BUG" in the Program...

[Read the article: Salon Radio: Tim Shorrock]

Glenn, there's still a "bug" on the Salon website: when I click on the podcast, and hear the audio, I want to continue reading the comments that are posted. Unfortunately, once I click on the link to read the comments, the audio disappears. For now, I will just read the transcripts, instead. Nevertheless, I hope there's a solution to the problem. Thanks for all that you do!!!

  • IT'S THE MSM, STUPID

[Read the article: Karl Rove's media birds chirp about Obama's "arrogance"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Glenn hit in on the head, once again: it's the Mainstream Media (MSM) that has sold us down the river for GOP $$$ and/or influence. Witness how far we've come: from newspaper reporters such as Walter Cronkite, we now have television talking heads such as Charlie Gibson and Brian Williams. The latter earn millions, while, at the same time, their writing staff is earning pennies. More important, the size of their writing staff has shrunk significantly over the last 20 years. I also agree with dcutler's analysis that it's racism, pure and simple, which Obama's campaign needs to point out to the general public.

This should be a "big change" election, given the unpopularity of George Bush and the Republicans. The problem is, the current Democratic Party still is stuck in 2001, trying desperately to look like "Republicans." It's as if the last eight years has meant nothing to them, or the nation.

I don't know what the answer is, other than to point this out to Obama's staff. After all, it's his problem that he will have to solve if he wants to get elected.

  • KEEP IT UP, renegade iconoclast, paulpsd and bystander

Kudos to renegade iconoclast, paulpsd??? and bystander, for their continued excellent responses to the RWNM trash being spewed by dice50, especially. He's a Repub. troll.

  • GLENN, KEEP UP YOUR OUTSTANDING WORK ON THIS

[Read the article: The FBI's selective release of documents in the anthrax case]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Glenn, your choice of following this news story is terrific. Read Dr. Naff's outstanding article about the problems with the FBI's 'story' about Dr. Ivins, and agree with your comment that every journalist doing a story on Dr. Ivins needs to look at Dr. Naff's article. Clearly, we are not going to get to the bottom of this until we have a Congress that is willing to stand up and fight, including issuance and enforcement of subpoenas for testimony under oath. One of the worst things that happened during the Clinton Administration was the expiration of the Special Prosecutor Act, which, at the time, I supported because of the blatantly political witchhunt that Clinton endured during his Administration. This has left the Bush Administration free to commit crime after crime with impunity. The "Anthrax poison letters of 2001" needs to have an independent commission, like the 9/11 Commission. I am going to write my Congressperson and Senators about this. Let's get the truth out!

  • LIND, YOU'RE RIGHT AND YOU'RE WRONG

[Read the article: The Newer Deal: The path to a Democratic supermajority]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Mr. Lind, your article intrigued me, and then I read the comments posted following the article. Other than the Repuglicans posing as progressives, such as Tina Trent who just posted an awful screed, there seems to be confusion over what you said. I tend to agree with the points of view expressed by Liberty13 and others, that, we can't completely ignore the socially progressive points of view in the name of winning elections. I do agree that the Dems need to focus on populist economic politics this election cycle, and not focus on socially divisive issues such as gay marriage and abortion. There's no question, however, that public education is key to the future of our country, if there's to be any future for the country. Read Wolen's latest work, for a scary, but probably accurate prediction of where we are headed as a country, essentially a fascist state with "pseudo" democracy. In fact, we may already be there...

  • THIS KIND OF CRAP IS SCARY

[Read the article: Debunking anti-Obama e-mails]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Supposedly, 10 percent, or MORE, of the U.S. believes Obama is a Muslim. If Obama doesn't win the Presidency, I am going to make plans to move to Canada or Europe, where we won't have the danger of becoming a fascist state rearing its awful head.
