  • I'M MAD AS HELL AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!

[Read the article: Terry Moran, Michael Gordon and The Mark Halperin Syndrome]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Kudos to Glenn Greenwald for alerting me to Michael Gordon's "expose" of "dangerous" Iranian weapons. I have now read four online articles concerning same, including the latest NYT article that incorporates sections of ABC's GMA story this AM. I'm not buying the Bush-Cheney Admin's hype this time. (I didn't buy it last time, either, but, most of the public did) The question for me is: what do we do about it?

There are several issues raised by this:

First, I thought that the "Right Wing Noise Machine" (RWNM) had finally been turned off by the elections. Unfortunately, I was wrong about that. They have now returned, with the drumbeat of "War with Iran." They have lost the War with Iraq, so, now, they're doubling down with the "War with Iran." Such war will be absolutely catastrophic for the U.S.,and perhaps the entire world. The "so-called-liberal-media," (SCLM) if it ever existed, has been dead since 1990 or so. The current Mainstream Media (MSM) is a cousin of the RWNM, echoing its load rantings without questioning its veracity. There is absolutely no question that the MSM has been completely taken over by the Right Wing Wing Nuts, or, at minimum, is so fearful of the RWNM that they have been completely neutered as a source for TRUTHFUL information about any subject. Thank God for the Internet, which has been my sole source of information since 2004. One only hopes that Net Neutrality is here to stay. The good thing is, the public was burned by their reliance on the MSM for the War with Iraq, and are probably a good bit more wary about swallowing information without question this time.

Second, can Congress stop the War with Iran before it starts? My understanding is that the NIE requested on Iran is not due until the end of March. The Iran War might be underway by then. I suggest that we all e-mail Senator Rockefeller, the chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, and urge that he expedite the request for the NIE, so that it can be completed in the next couple of weeks. If the NIE shows that Iran is nowhere near having a Nuke, perhaps the public will rise up and prevent Bush-Cheney from bombing or invading Iran.

Third, can the people stop the War in Iraq and the War in Iran? We need to get off our collective butts and drown out the noise of the RWNM, with the SMNM. (Silent Majority Noise Machine) Those of us who have opposed the Bush-Cheney Administration from the start are in the majority, and need to become as vocal as the minority RWNM, perhaps even more so. I think that the best way to stop the War in Iraq is not to "de-fund" it, but to bury the Bush-Cheney Admin. with serious investigation about the lead-up to the War in Iraq, and the blatantly illegal "War on Terror" investigative techniques, such as illegal wiretapping and renditions to torture countries. Instead of a "drumbeat for War with Iran," let's have a "drumbeat for Double Impeachment."

Thanks again, Mr. Greenwald, for your great writing.

  • I'M WITH YELLOW DOG: PUBLIC FUNDING OF CONGRESSIONAL, SENATE & PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGNS

[Read the article: For McAuliffe and Schumer, it's all about the money]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I'm with Yellow Dog: We need Public Financing of all Federal Campaigns! That's the only way to get money out of politics, and return our politicians to the job that we elected them to do. Politicians spend more than half of their time raising money for their campaigns, and not working on the issues that will help the middle class. I also agree with Yellow Dog's comments about Rahm Emanuel and Chuck Schumer. I can't believe that Schumer's taking credit for the Senate turning Democratic. Quite frankly, it turned Democratic DESPITE the Democratic Party's efforts, which rewarded true progressive candidates such as Ned Lamont a slap in the face. I wonder what the polls in Connecticut show now about their so-called Independent "Democrat" Joe Lieberman, who is leading the Republican Surge into Iraq. (and eventually Iran)

  • SO THAT'S MICHAEL GORDON!

[Read the article: Michael Gordon, the administration's best friend at the Times]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Just read your "UPDATE" to the article, in which you relay the info that Michael Gordon was on Charlie Rose - Now I know who he is! He's the guy with the British accent with long, gray hair, who looks like a former hippie, but whose politics are more neocon than hippie progressive. I will have to agree with the posts that describe him as arrogant, because that's how he came across on the Charlie Rose Show. I thought I posted a comment to this blog yesterday, but, since I can't find it now, WELCOME TO SALON, Glenn Greenwald!

  • The Internet is the ONLY Source of Truth these days...

[Read the article: The "fantastic job" Newsweek's Richard Wolffe claims he is doing]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Another great article, Mr. Greenwald. I am really glad that you have become a contributor for Salon. I discovered the Internet as a source of information three years ago, when I started reading Truthout. Now, Truthout and Salon are my two primary sources of information, not newspapers. I do also read the Washington Post, online, but find that their stories are typical MSM crap. The Right Wing Noise Machine has effectively neutered the MSM. That's why it's vital that we use the Internet to get the truth out. Unfortunately, there are many, many people who don't have access to the Internet, which is why we need to keep the pressure on the MSM.

  • ANOTHER GREAT ARTICLE, GLENN:

[Read the article: Joe Lieberman's dishonesty: The Iraq tragedy in a nutshell]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Another great article, Glenn! Lieberman, should he jump ship on the Democrats, should be impeached by Connecticut! He ran as an "Independent Democrat," not as a Republican.
