These debates are really boring and the so-called debate "rules" seem to prevent interesting interaction between the two candidates. Although, once in awhile, something telling comes through such as McCain's obvious condesencion toward others and the fact that he seems to "reach across the aisle" only to Joe Lieberman - how many times did he mention the latter's name? Also, isn't it time that the "undecideds" learn that they are not going to hear "specifics" in the debates to help them make up their minds? One hears this after every debate. And can't the moderaters come up with some new questions - something that will really make the candidates think on their feet so we don't have to hear the same old talking points all of the time? By the way, Obama clearly won.
I can't believe it. I'm listening to cable news in the other room while I'm typing this and Joe the Plumber has been all over the news - and guess what. Joe appears to be divorced with a 13 year old son, doesnt have a girlfriend and is spending this weekend in New York City (he must have some money). After one of Joe's many interviews, I then heard Palin "pal" speaking at a rally. Honestly, her voice/talking points were so annoying that I had to turn down the volume. I think even Joe Plumber would make a better VP. (I'm a loyal Democrat). And, by the way, I don't know who Joe Plumber is voting for - I didn't stick around to find out.
I am heartbroken that Korto didn't win and only hope that she goes on to have a successful career in the fashion world. I thought her runway collection was beautiful. Leanne's collection was elegant and beautifully done but it was repetitious. And I think that Leanne put those "petals" on every outfit she did for the entire season although I may be wrong. I can't believe the judges didn't see that Korto was the more versatile designer. But I don't think they showed Heidi commenting on Kortos collection right before the announcement so this was kind of a "tell" for me. Kenley should have been kicked off long ago - not just for her designs or her snippy remarks to Tim, but she also visibly laughed while other designers were being criticized on several occasions. It's amazing to me that the judges let her show at Bryant Park.
I read the article in the Times this morning before even seeing the Salon postings. The article left me feeling sad for Cindy and wondering if she keeps asking herself "what did I get myself into?" All I could think of was that John McCain is probably not a very nice husband (I don't know this) and prefers to hang out with the "good ole boys" as opposed to being home with his wife and children whenever possible. Quite honestly, I've wondered for awhile why she stays with him - is she that insecure? She's great looking, obviously has tons of her own money and it doesn't sound as if she'd really like to be First Lady. It may be better for her if he loses - then she can dump him.
Joe Lieberman has been an embarrassment and, as the Republicans are now saying about Colin Powell, a turncoat (although I loathe having any of the same feelings as the current Republican campaign). How quickly he forgets what an historic event it was for Al Gore to select a Jewish person as a Vice Presidential candidate and no one, as I recall, made an issue of it during that campaign. How can Joe endorse a ticket with a VP candidate who seemingly does not want to separate the line between church and state and who tells her crowds to pray for the Republicans?
Joan, I saw you on Hardball and you were great - I always enjoy watching you on tv as you always provide well-thought-out and reasonable comments. Pat was pathetic mentioning the race card; the Republicans are terrified and are stooping as low as possible. Pat seems to be on cable shows 24/7 and I always try to forget about his baser views (the Holocaust comes to mind)and listen to him with an open mind but I'm afraid he can't be forgiven on this one.
Joan, Joan. Please do not feel sorry for Sarah. I truly believe she is a power-hungry, narcissistic person who has learned to love the spotlight and imagines herself the savior of the Republican party. Unfortunately, she has no self-awareness of what an embarrassment she truly is. I don't remember he saying one kind thing about anyone during her short time in the limelight (except for McCain) - she would never feel sorry for you and she is simply a nasty person.
Joan,
I love reading your blogs - you always know what I'm thinking but don't know how to express it as articulately as you do. I saw Hardball yesterday and Tom Delay made me physically sick - thank goodness we haven't seen him during this election - why did Chris have him on? Debbie Wasserman-Schulz is always awesome - boy, would I love to see her debate Caribou Barbie - she would wipe the floor with her.
I only half watched the Obama infomercial as I was doing something else but was anxious to see Bill with Obsma. I loved that. The Clintons are going out with style - I was trying my hardest to will Hillary to win the nomination but not to be. May the first woman president NOT BE SARAH PALIN. Bill and Hill are doing what they should be doing.I'm still nervous about Tuesday but hope that we can pull this one off.
