Is the Politico's Dan Gerstein the same Dan Gerstein as Joe Lieberman's Danger Stein? Has he found an "objective" news organization--one which if memory served is own by the chairman of the Ronald Reagan Library Foundation--from which to act as Holy Joe's cat's paw against the Democrats?
To Ralph Krandem's point about Joe helping people who are praying for the destruction of all Jews as a prelude to the Second Coming: The Hagees think they're using Joe to bring about the Rapture, Holy Joe thinks he's using the Hagees-Rapturites to bring about the Coming of the True Messiah (my memory of the Old Testament is a little fuzzy, I can't say I'm sure what Joe thinks). That's the great thing about being a delusional religious fanatic: You're right, everybody else is wrong, and it's okay to use useful idiots to get what you (and God) want (see Bush, George and Blair, Tony).
On Joe Klein's "I can't imagine voting against him", Very Serious Beltway Denizen Lawrence O'Donnell made the same point on the old Franken show just before the CT primary. He said that in his eighteen years in the Senate, Joe Lieberman had advanced no important cause or movement, had not written or meaningfully sponsored any significant legislation, nor even given a memorable speech with the exception of one about Bill Clinton's sex-life. That said, quoth Larry, it would be a mistake for the voters of CT and bad for the Democratic Party nationally if Joe Lieberman were not re-elected.
(To his credit, he did call for Lieberman to drop out after he lost the primary, but that was such a jaw-droppingly stupid comment, so full of fatuous Beltway self-satisfaction, that I've never forgotten.
1) his repeated statements during the campaign that he wanted to end the war in Iraq
2) his reprehensible abandonment of NOLA
3) his conversion on filibusters, which he used to oppose on "principle"
His weaselly tap dancing on Gonzales shows him to the disingenuous little weasel that he is. The no confidence vote was "political"? What was your flip-flop on filibusters, your cave in on Katrina hearings, and your pious grandstanding on Terry Schiavo, you hypocritical, self-serving, egomaniacal little scumbag?
Bill Clinton went to Connecticut to save his weaselly little ass, and supported him after he lost the primary in a desperate attempt to secure mythical swing-voters for HRC's presidential run. If she gets the nomination, he'll repay them--with a knife to Hillary's back--so fast it'll make the Clintons' heads spin.
Every time I think this loony broad can't look any sillier, she types something like this
**Did Mrs. John Edwards, playing phone tag, put her foot in her mouth by single-handedly rehabilitating Ann Coulter's reputation for seat-of-the-pants, high-testosterone counterpunching? **
Who Le Coulter had a reputation that could be "rehabilitated", much less that she had done so?
I was actually hoping for something stupider, something truly freakish, in her comments about music, but the hat tip to Kelly Clarkson via Matt Drudge was a nice, if mild, side dish.
"Powell will do it if he has to
From what I sense about Powell, he will ultimately speak up as a patriot in service to his country."
Please.... Powell helped Bush get re-elected, and from what I recall, wanted to stay on in the second term. Powell has consistently put his loyalty to the Bush family before the interests of the country and the lives of American soldiers.
He is a hollow man, a eunuch, in many ways the most despicable member of the despicable Bush administration.
From what I've read, Gonzo credits some kind of Christian Fellowship society for getting him through college, the emotional support he wasn't getting from his parents. I'm sure he and the Princeling have had some nice maudlin talks about how Jeebus saved them, booze and daddy issues just icing on the narcissistic, delusional cake.
Is anyone asking them why Craig should resign and not David Vitter, confessed criminal?
there's an old All in Family clip of Archie Bunker making (more or less) the same case about fighting terrorism with handguns. But Mike Royko always swore that Norman Lear stole his modest proposal without attribution.

...a perfect example of the mess we're in.
Why in god's name would anyone vote for this? Do Hillary Clinton and Ken Salazar and the rest think the country is clamoring for a pissing match with Iran? Democrats are so terrified of getting scolded and smeared by that senile old fool John McCain and that fascist halfwit Rudy Giuliani that they're afraid to treat the American people like adults. So they tuck their tails between their legs and dance to Joe Lieberman's tune.
PS-
**In truth, a large segment of public opinion remains in the mushy middle about an Iraqi exit strategy, with exact proportions varying with the wording of poll questions.**
These are people who think violence is down in Iraq because the General Whathisname said so last week. They can't rememeber exactly because they were just doing the crossword while waiting for the sports and weather and an update on that cute little baby who was kidnapped in England and did you hear about OJ?
Lead. Take a stand. Stand for something. These people are followers. stop waiting for them to tell you what they want. They don't know.
