[Read more letters about this article: Here]I say stand up for whatever insane retarded thing you like.
Nice to see a man who practices what he preaches.

[Read the article: Maryland delegate jumps to Obama]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]If this guy can switch his allegiance to obama, what's to stop any number of pledged delegates from declaring for Hillary?
I'm no political scientist, but I'd say that the fact that Hillary might be dropping out of the race as soon as next Wednesday would probably keep that from happening.
That being said, as an Obama supporter, I think this is kinda silly. I never thought I'd hear myself tell a delegate not to jump from Hillary's ship, but even a minor flap over something this ultimately insignificant isn't worth one delegate to a candidate who seems to have no trouble racking up endorsements lately.

@ susan
[Read the article: Racism on the trail]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Similarly, I think that much of "America" would vote for an African-American candidate -- if the platform warranted -- I'm not sure Obama is that candidate -- too white bread, too privileged. Oddly, I think Obama may be "exceptional" -- that Olympic level athlete or student who makes the path they leave behind "toucgher."
1) "Too whitebread?" You want a candidate who's drawing substantial support across the racial spectrum and 90% of the black vote to be more black? You think that's the secret to getting "America" to support him more? The biggest voting block he's had trouble cracking is older poorer rural whites, who -- as we've all seen from the West Virginia primary coverage -- don't seem to be clamoring for a "blacker" candidate.
2) "Too privileged?" The guy wasn't born with a trust fund waiting for him. His dad left his mother when Obama was a year old. His acceptance into the schools he went to was based purely on his own merits, not as part of a legacy program or because of his family name. And his education was paid for by scholarships and student loans. Did you miss the bit about how his mother had to go on food stamps when he was a child? How the hell does any of this qualify as "privilege?"
3) Obama is exceptional. There's nothing "odd" about that. That's sort of why a lot of us support him. We've seen what happens when you give a lazy, underachieving, intellectually uncurious, ultimately unexceptional person the keys to the country for eight years. And yeah, he's going to be a very tough act to follow. But if that's supposed to be a reason not to be excited about his candidacy and determined to put him in the White House, I'm afraid I'm not convinced.

[Read the article: Racism on the trail]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]ASK OBAMA... about race and you get no answer. That's because from the beginning Obama and his campaign consultants knew that if it became about race - he loses! So how honest is America's potentially first black President when he won't even acknowledge the problem?
Seriously. When is that coward going to give a 38-minute speech on the state of race in America?
Oh, March 18th? Neeeever miiiind...

Better a "coward" than a hack
[Read the article: Will gay marriage doom the Democrats?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]As I've written before, I was once a cowardly civil unions supporter; I thought gay marriage was deadly for Democrats.
Joan, I grew up in Vermont, and my mother was one of those "cowardly civil unions supporters" who ran for statewide office as a Democrat in 2000, after the Vermont General Assembly passed the first civil unions bill in the nation. She and many others who ran as Democrats or Progressives that November were subjected to almost daily verbal abuse and veiled threats (sometimes not so veiled), all because they tried to move the ball further down the field toward equality for all Vermonters, regardless of sexual orientation.
Your condemnation of her and those of us who believe that civil unions are an important and sensible first step in one of the most important civil rights issue of our age is incredibly disrespectful. It's easy to say stupid and tone-deaf things on a third-rate left-leaning news side -- I do it just about every day! -- but it's a lot harder to actually be on the ground, in the fight, and taking heat for it. You owe my mother an apology, as well as and everyone else who's ever stood in the line of fire of hateful bigots.

The other half of the headline
[Read the article: Clinton raised $22 million in April ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Even taking April's fundraising totals into account, she still owes $20 million.
Time for somebody to cut up the credit cards.

I believe Hillary
[Read the article: Both Dem campaigns deny CNN's talks story]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]It's pretty obvious that there's no discussions going on about her being Obama's VP, as she's now going with the strategy of dog-whistling for one of her insane supporters to shoot him before the convention.

The full quote, in context, as I imagine it:
[Read the article: Defending campaign, Clinton cites RFK assassination]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. I don't understand it.
"I mean, despite the agents assigned to protect him, someone managed to find and shoot him as he was leaving through the kitchen of the Ambassador Hotel. All it would take for this terrible tragedy to be repeated is for just one person to study Senator Obama's security detail and figure out where the holes in it are. Just one unassuming middle-aged woman with an Obama t-shirt and a small firearm could get it done, especially in a narrow hallway or close quarters.
"Alternatively, you -- I mean, 'she' -- could wire herself with explosives, just between the bust and waistline. It wouldn't even require her to get closer than ten feet from him before detonating them for an almost certain kill. There's all sorts of instructions for building something like this on the internet. It would be a real shame if someone looked them up.
"And I would certainly hate to have to become the Democratic nominee for president under such horrible circumstances.
"Wink, wink."
