That was fast!
[Read the article: What did Mickey Kantor really say?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I'm not saying that this isn't a newsworthy item, and I'm glad that someone who appears to have been falsely accused of using the ugliest racial slur in the English language is getting the benefit of near-immediate retractions and clarifying articles that vindicate him.
That being said, I find it interesting that Salon would run this story so soon after the original (false) story broke, especially considering that Salon never made any mention of the original video in the first place. Contrast that to the story about the organization that's been making false and illegal robocalls to North Carolina African-Americans, a story that broke on Wednesday, which Alex said he'd be covering on Thursday:
http://letters.salon.com/politics/war_room/2008/04/30/qotd/permalink/5dcaa732311d6c161b3e4ba05b6049fb.html
And yet, it's now Friday, and we haven't seen anything from Alex or anyone else at Salon about this.
This is yet another example of why so many of us Obama supporters see a clear and definite bias against our candidate on this site. Salon rushes to defend someone affiliated with the Clintons, despite the fact that the site never posted false information about him in the first place. And yet, when an entire organization loaded with ex-Clinton staffers and Clinton contributors is caught trying to mislead voters whose socioeconomic group has proven to be a solid base of support for Obama, the best we can hope for is that maybe -- maybe -- we might get a Friday afternoon posting that'll be all but forgotten over the weekend.

[Read the article: Obama ad hits Clinton on gas tax again]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Go back and look up and the memo that was sent by Obama staff that listed ways on how to race bait Clinton. I simply cannot imagine that's the "only one". Yeah, sure.
Clinton campaign tactic #8: When you find the slightest evidence of impropriety but nothing else to suggest that it's a pattern, present the meager evidence that you have, followed by an ominous baritone voice saying, "What else don't we know about Barack Obama?"
And Blumenthal. So fucking what.
There's a difference between a senior campaign staffer slandering a rival candidate and some over-exuberant moron with basic video editing software and an internet connection. One speaks with the voice of the campaign. The other is on the level of messageboard trolls like us.
Then again, this speaks to Clinton campaign tactic #9: Whenever anything untoward is said or done by anyone who is in any way affiliated with the Obama campaign, or has ever had any sort of interaction with Obama whatsoever, or just seems to support Obama or not support Hillary, this should immediately be framed as coming directly from the candidate himself.

[Read the article: Clinton responds to gas tax attacks]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Earlier today, I posted the following comment in a previous article:
Glad to see that you think the gas-tax dust-up merits four War Room articles this week. Some of us are still waiting for the Clinton-affiliated North Carolina robocall story that you said would appear on Thursday:
http://letters.salon.com/politics/war_room/2008/04/30/qotd/permalink/5dcaa732311d6c161b3e4ba05b6049fb.html
So what's it going to be, Alex? Are you going to post the robocall story on a Friday afternoon, in the hopes that it'll be all but forgotten over the weekend, or are you spiking it altogether because you think it might hurt Hillary's chances on Tuesday?
Please correct this so that the first paragraph reads:
Glad to see that you think the gas-tax dust-up merits five War Room articles this week. Some of us are still waiting for the Clinton-affiliated North Carolina robocall story that you said would appear on Thursday.

Seriously, people. When was that?
Barack Obama, 2008 Democratic nominee for president.

[Read the article: Obama ad hits Clinton on gas tax again]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]So far, all you've managed to do is show that you still can't tell the difference between a senior campaign staffer and an internet troll. Also, you've displayed an impressive command of profanity. So I think that's pretty much it for this discussion.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go back to my day job, which is hounding Alex to finally post his promised article on the NC robocall story, which even NPR has picked up now:
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=90114863
(You do consider NPR to be a legitimate news outlet, right? Or is that more chum bait for us guileless Obama cultists?)

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Obama's attempt to steal the nomination isn't tough politics as usual, it's scumbaggery and it earned McCain 4 votes in my household.
Wow, you mean you're going to be voting for two losers in this presidential campaign? No wonder you're so bitter.

Aw, damn. I forgot that I was wearing my Future Glasses. Sorry to spoil the ending for you.
(PS: He wins in November, too.)

[Read the article: Obama ad hits Clinton on gas tax again]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Just read Joe Conason's article about the Blumenthal "scandal," and it looks like damnthatxanadu's take on the situation was probably closer to the truth than I'd like to have to admit. And since Conason's is the only other article I've seen on it, and it's much better-written than the HuffPo article, and I've been a fan of Conason and his writing for a long time, it looks like I've got no choice but to eat some crow.
Munch, munch.
