You still have the right to spout your nonsense, god bless America!

Please tell me how a minority party can stonewall anything. The Republicans haven’t enough votes to use the last option of slowing legislation the phibuster rule. They are not allowed into committees. There is no non-partisan ship you on the left are the partisans the ones ramming legislation through that is bankrupting the country...and you will pay for this and loose all the power you have gained over the last decade.

You don't know what you're talking about. You don't understand how Congress works. You and swagagit, and heurfinwuss and the Paulist brigade come here and spout blithering idiocy and think you've made some profound point when none of you have even the barest grasp of how your government actually works, let alone how human societies operate. All you have is your conspiracy fantasies and your paranoia about "leftists" and your tiresome loathing for "gubmit". You're idiots.

Go Grayson!

The minute I heard his presentation on the floor, I emailed him to say.."Yo dude, you're my hero!"

Koppleman

Whether they want to believe it or not, the passionate people on both sides of the political divide are more alike than they realize. Both sides believe the party that represents them isn't forceful enough, that it rolls over for its opposition, no matter how malicious that opposition might be.

I thought you were smarter than this. I'm shocked frankly and disappointed that you made the false equivalency argument between Grayson and Wilson. Who's editing your copy at Salon?

@Chadimus and OldPoorRichard

What obnoxious, self-involved, narcissistic, self-righteous twaddle. Who are you guys, Church Lady?

Grayson got 'em in a headlock!

God I love this man! That's what you call a Strict Constitutionalist!

@Paulus

Here is a hint: you can't spend as much on defense as the rest of the world combined without it coming from somewhere.

You can't spend as much on war making as the rest of the world combined without it coming from somewhere.

There, I fixed it for you.

@boaster

It's a wash--especially since homeowners are far less likely to use city services than renters (and pay extra for those that we *do* use, such as water).

Huh?

Viva la France!

The Europeans have a long history of dealing with cults and criminals operating under a religious banner. They know how to put the quietus to a bunch of religious cooks and crooks.

...culminating with the disgusting scandals involving the clergy's Lavender Mafia and the pedophiles among their ranks.

The overwhelming preponderance of priests involved in the pedophile scandal were in formation prior to Vatican II. That the church had begun to have an adult attitude toward adult sexuality as a result of Vatican II is blamed for the pedophile scandal. It is a terrific mistake. It was priests who were formed back in the Dark Ages of Catholic teaching on sexuality that is largely to blame. All those sexually repressed and confused men, formed pre-Vatican II, made to feel deformed and abhorrent because of their sexual desires, a teaching that twisted and perverted a natural urge into being eventually acted out in very damaging ways. The Catholic Church didn't just cover up what the pedophiles did, it created them. Now it's gone back to making the same blockheaded, ideological mistakes.

@IlluminaForSinII

...so she can be held up to justify how Western Liberals bash Christianity in a way that they would NEVER attack Islam or Judaism.

Judaism, Christianity and Islam are the three worst religions in the history of the human race. And with every word you write, you prove it. You're a militant, war-mongering, narcissistic, self-involved, self-righteous, idolater. The kind that those three religions produce in spades. I would never belong to any religion that would have you as an adherent.

One of the great silver linings to the coming end of the human race in the looming ecological collapse, from which you and your ilk will perish along with the rest of us, will be the removal from the record of earth's history of those three god forsaken religions. The ideological gene pool will be wiped clean and the earth will finally be returned to Paradise.

The creationists' dirt laundry

If you've been brought up with it, for most it takes a long time to shake off the fantasies and delusions of the creationists' god. Most never do because they cannot tolerate the emotional and existential void created by the disillusionment. For those who do, the whole system breaks down, not because of science, but because of the irreconcilable claims the religionists make about their god to the realities of the human condition. You either figure out that their omnipotent and omniscient god does not exist or that he's one cruel ass motherfuckngfuckwad. Many good people spend the rest of their lives healing from the damage to their spiritual and emotional selves.

Religion is a disease and belief is like starch, too much of the stuff will stiffen you until you itch.

Original article: Can populism be liberal?

@IluminaForSanII

On issues like taxes, religion, affirmative action, abortion, homosexual marriage, etc. liberals don't just disagree with the majority of Americans, they venomously hate people who disagree with them.

So the popularity of views determines their veracity and worth? Aside from your liberal bashing statement being lying, tiresome tripe, this is a fairly odd claim from someone who insists that he's a Christian.
