Questions answered
[Read the article: Attacks on civilians, torture and lawless detentions]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The first question you have to ask is whether the Americans would be bombing and shooting if 9/11 hadn't happened. I don't think so.
I do think so. Remember, in the end, the Bush administration was spoiling for a fight with Iraq, and no only pushed ties to 9/11, but also lied a huge case about weapons of mass destruction. The plans to attack Iraq were underway well before 9/11.
The next question you have to ask is why are the Muslims primarily bombing and shooting each other these days. The reality is that we don't bomb and shoot anymore until bombed or shot at first.
Except in support of some of the Iraqis against some of the others.
And lastly it is we as a nation that bombed and shot. It was a Democrat Senate that passed the Authorizations, and it is a Democrat Congress that keeps us there while we hope for a peaceful resolution that doesn't involve a white flag on our part.
Yes, bare majority Democratic, which was provided questionable to fraudulent information from a Republic President.
Well, I'd say there is quite a difference between Muslims and Americans after all.
Except, of course, for Muslim Americans, who are apparently less likely to actually engage in terrorist attacks than other Americans.

Time and energy
[Read the article: Attacks on civilians, torture and lawless detentions]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Did we suddenly get a new right, the right to be forced to answer a question?
Maybe 20% of respondants recall Richelieu:
"give me six lines from the hand of an honest man, and I will find therein something to hang him"
and didn't want to give any answer because they feared it would be misconstrued. Say by someone who fears Muslims?
I will take my own advice, now, and ignore the troll who thinks he is Columbo.

Elbow room
[Read the article: Attacks on civilians, torture and lawless detentions]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]bucky1,
The problem with almost all civilizations is that if they need lebensraum for themselves and/or their followers, the usual method is to take it, rather than pay for it. Let us reference the original people of Israel, and the spread of Islam, and the Normans, and the colonization of Americas, eminent domain in Connecticut... The major counter example was usually China (except for Tibet), which has generally not considered the rest of the world worth bothering about.

Playing with the toys you've

As for playing with toys, I believe that was the exact rationale for the appointment of the replacement Federal Attorneys using the new statute slipped in last years supplemental spending bill after the last minute. "Why have the power if you can't use it." And this is the legal side of the administration.

Based on his two previous posts, I believe Rufus is countertrolling GB:
Truly Disturbing
The most disturbing of the Pew poll to me, by far, was that 25% of Americans would rather not give a polltaker their name and address, even when doing so would result in being rewarded financially. Do these people have money falling out of their armpits?

Pronounciation
[Read the article: Attacks on civilians, torture and lawless detentions]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]William,
IANAS, but my mother-in-law was, and her pronounciation to me was ka-peesch, with a slight aspiration on the end.
