You writers are deranged

That's right. Deranged. Why don't you stick to the facts? It takes 60 votes to keep the bill going, so a small group of southern Repub Senators can't stop the bailout. Please help the reader out with facts, except of course if you did, it would've ruined your thesis.

Next, without any labor changes, legacy cost changes for post-retirement health insurance, etc, a bailout would've been meaningless.......just throwing money to GM and Chrysler for them to burn through in 4 months. Then what?

They need massive restructuring, not $15B to burn through.

You guys are pathetic. The southern Repubs are looking out for the taxpayers, in their state, and in fact in many states. Stick with the facts.

Original article: Global boiling

Kirsten: You're so smart......

........and have written about this, trying to sound like an informed writer. Let's get back to square one, shall we, shall you?

How much has the planet warmed over the last 10 years? 20 years?

Before you go off on all your "ifs, ands, and buts" as these scientists also do.......because they use those same words proving that they can't predict the future..........why don't you tell us about the past and facts related to the facts? How much has the planet warmed? How are the averages taken? Etcetera.

And, while we're at it......while you confuse yourself trying to answer that basic question and get some kind of consensus on it...........STUDY one other historical detail. Look to see EXACTLY why our Senate voted 97-0 to NOT sign the Kyoto treaty disaster in 1997. That's right, the Senate including such stalwart jackasses like Teddy Kennedy, John Kerry, Barbara Boxer, Diane Feinstein, Joe Biden.......yes, all that jackasses even joined more rational Senators to pitch a shutout........97 to fricking zero. Please study up WHY they did. The reasons are STILL TRUE!!

Original article: My year in politics

Ms. Walsh - Question for you

I hope you're ready for Obama/Pelosi/Reid's furtherance of our already soft-socialism. Their answers for making our economy more vibrant are already failing because the intelligent investors are justifiably terrified of the havoc we'll endure for many years to come. Almost all their answers and actions will be the OPPOSITE of what our economy needs. Think about that. If you have children, you should have thought about it before you voted for Obama and your local Democrat in the House. We will slide quickly and dangerously closer to Europe's brand of soft-socialism..........my question to you is this: Why do you think that'll help our economy?

Original article: I was fleeced by Madoff

Dear Geneen:

What a well-written, honest and poignant description of your experience. May I suggest that you consider how much the various govt entities you've paid taxes to.....have fleeced you over the years as well? And how our media outlets have failed us by not exposing this, as well as other financial truths?

You also have a habit, as so many liberals do, of living a conflicted life with belief versus truth versus action......but at least you are smart and honest enough to understand it. It's perfectly natural to want to accumulate wealth, for so many reasons. Rather than feel embarassed by your actions that so clearly were a bit "greedy" w/respect to investment returns, you should look at your leftist leaders, and see how important it is to them to accumulate wealth and then hire lawyers to create trusts to escape estate taxes.

Our govt spends too much of our money, and you were incorrect about the ratio of spending on education vs weaponry. My advice to you is to start to compare the different items of govt spending so that you're more aware. Military spending is about 4-5% of GDP. Healthcare and education is many times more than that in just what the govt spends of our tax dollars, not to mention the private spending on those two items.

If the govt didn't take 40% - 50% of our hard-earned dollars, many more of us could become wealthy by age 60. You don't understand that the egregious taxes (which will get worse for higher earners) are not only killing our economy, they're killing our personal ability to get a comfortable retirement by age 60. We end up taking too much risk (I know I have also as a 53-year old who had almost 100% of ret invstmts in stock mutual funds), because it's so DAMN hard to save enough of our after-tax dollars!! If you voted for Obama, you should realize that he doesn't want us to become wealthy (although he wants it for his family, believe me.......he helped Michele get a $325k/year gig as an administrator at U of C Hospital) . That's another contradiction liberals will have to live with......at least Bush lowered marginal tax rates and increased 401(k) dollar limits so that my wife and I could put more away pre-tax. We need our Capitalism to thrive now more than ever, and these economic dolts will do the exact opposite of what we need. The stock market has known this for 6 months now and business owners are scared to death of the Obama "fix" that we're in for. I'm spreading my money around 15% i-shares gold fund, and stocks such as WalMart, Costco, BJs, ConAgra, ADM, P&G, Campbells,Hormel, General Mills, etc..........these are the "staple" companies and I'm not expecting miracles, but I'm expecting disasters in other areas of the economy. So hold onto your wallet-purse, get to work and save like a squirrel........at least what the govt leaves you after their "piece". Good luck. We'll need it. And skill. And prudence. And knowledge. And diversification. Sorry about your Madoff disaster. He certainly seemed trustworthy enough.....head of the NASDAQ for God's sake!
