Glenn:
I wanted to offer this encouragement after watching your exchange with Ben which, for me, was very informative and generally, I'm sure with many others, as with any substantive discussion, for all the reasons you mention in this post. (Btw, how much DID you spend on your haircut?...Just kidding, Glenn!)
What was telling about Ben's responses, or lack thereof, when posed with the larger conceptual questions you raised was the apparent lack of thoughtful consideration about the subjects and their impact on which his articles focus. I agree that Ben is not the average "right-wingnut" caricature of a journalist, and no doubt a really nice guy, but so what. It sounds like he's arguing that it doesn't really matter if, or is "significant" that his stuff gets linked by Drudge. I think he misses the point in a big way and that seems to demonstrate the very point.
We in the progressisphere need to be reminded not to be overly shocked about the lying and the believing of lies by this band of merry robbers. They have aggressively set up for themselves, and have become quite adept at selling, certainly better than the Democrats, and instilling into the DNA of their followers, a frame of reality that'd be like Dracula peering into the sunlight if the truth is ever allowed in.
Glenn's point that we'll likely never hear any retractions or ammendments is spot-on. My question is, how can we become more adept at communicating a better and closer-to version of reality than the schmucks in power?
Anybody? Buehler?
My father-in-law, a city attorney for 34 years, and an unwavering Repub, came absolutely unglued when he heard someone suggest that lying to the grand jury was no huge deal (during the Clinton investigation). I know after reading Klein's article he's probably turning over in his grave. Great post!
As an aside, did you happen to see the fox interview with Tommy Chong? After he repudiated the silliness of a Paris lock-up, the talking head actually asked him: "Have you had anything to smoke this morning?"
How swiftly and seamlessly the message-du-jure shuttles between the Administration and their obedient media-minions. It seems to get more and more efficient. All the more reason to support the spirit and efforts GG represents. Thank you, Glenn. But how DO you keep from cursing these foul beings?
Klein, simply, lies. He's perfected the art of lying and is passionate about what he does. These folks are commonly referred to as "liars".
Glenn, for continuing to advocate with a clear and conscientious voice our deepest concerns about a tribe run amok. Your work is monumentally encouraging to me and, I know, to those who are frustrated by the lies and uncanny prevarications of powerful people.
I don't know how you keep up your pace, but please know we are behind you 100 percent.
Peace n' love,
Tgrdug
in advance regardless of, or in spite of, reality is the favored method of Kingcheney and his minions.
the Beltway Contingent take us for fools and want us to believe The Lie de jour. Zelikow, I simply don't believe a goshdern thing you're saying. In fact, empirically, with you AND the rest of your clan, we can surmise that if you say one thing what you're really conveying is exactly the opposite. You should'a told the truth from the beginning, then we really would'a been thrown for a loop.
the recent inocuous Blackwater "investigation" by the Senate committee (reading the report as they formed their questions to Prince) is the disturbing notion that neither Obama or Clinton are adequately informed ONCE AGAIN about either the implications of the bill or the implication of their lack of leadership or, worse, the utterly galling prospect that their true colors simply aren't blue at all.
TrĂ¡igalo!
