Even though all the polls show that Obama does better head-to-head with McCain than Bill's wife does, the pro-Hillary Walsh insists on asking this as if it is an open question and even uses questionable, irrelevant data to try and spin it Hillary's way. Typical of the new Salon.

Anyway, knowing that McCain is going to be the nominee, any Democrat who votes against Obama is selling out the Democratic Party and America. In states with open primaries, Ann Coulter Republicans are going to be out in force for Hillary, knowing that she will lose in November (which is the real underlying message in Coulter's "I'm backing Hillary" remarks- remarks which will be retracted once Obama has been dealt with). Face the facts, Hillary can't win against McCain. Her war stance is too similar to his to appeal to independent voters and the Huckabee/Romney crowd will show up in force to vote against Hillary, whether McCain or the ghost of Saddam Hussein is the Republican nominee.

Democrats must unite behind Obama NOW. The economy has pushed Iraq from the front pages for now, but that will change soon. Why?

1. McCain has announced that he is running as the combination of Rudy and W.

2. The surge can't last and the death toll in Iraq will skyrocket.

3. The news stories about how thinly stretched our military is are taking up more and more media space/time.

4. Milstones. We will soon be hitting the 4000th American death in Iraq and the media loves milestones.

Hillary voted for the war resolution. She can't talk her way out of it and can't wish it away. She can't even claim to have been deceived after voting for Kyl-Leiberman.

The war on terror and the war in Iraq will be much bigger this Fall than they are now and Hillary's have-it-both-ways approach will be marketed (rightly, in this case) as "I voted for it before [I decided that it wasn't really what I voted for and if the political winds are blowing in the right direction wish] I [had] voted against it, depending on what the meaning of "is" is."

A vote against Obama now is essentially a vote for McCain in November. Old white women need to wake up and join the fact-based community, instead of voting as vacuously as men said they would when denying them the right to vote.

I am getting a little of the Hillary airheads calling anyone who opposes her misogynistic. It is the same as the hawks calling anyone who opposed going into Iraq unpatriotic.

The right wing hate machine hates Bill Clinton on pretty much the same level that they hate Hillary. BOTH of the Clintons provoke an irrational hatred from the far right. It isn't misogynism, it is vile, pointless hatred.

On the other hand, the Clintons have played into the right's hatred at every turn. The witch hunt that resulted in Bill's impeachment was shameful, but he didn't exactly make them work real hard for it, did he?

One day there will be a very good woman president. It won't be Hillary. If she wins, it opens no doors for women; it merely shows that a woman can ride her husband's name to victory as easily as a son rides his father's.

Why will I, a die-hard liberal, be at home if Hillary is the nominee? No, the answer is not misogyny- I actually feel that a win by Obama would make it easier for the next woman candidate than a Hillary win would.

Hillary is what the media and Rove falsely labeled Gore and Kerry as- a flip-flopping opportunist. She wants us to remember that SHE is running not Bill. She is independent. But she is also the "experienced" candidate because of her time as First Lady. What experience? The health care debacle, or holding Monica's hair while-

She has also used her husband's close ties to the black community to run a campaign more racist than any since Strom Thurmond's Dixiecrat run. If anyone not named Clinton had run a campaign as racist as Hillary's has been, Salon would have an entire page ala War Room dedicated to bringing them down.

The bottom line is that there is a lot of irrational hatred of Hillary from the right that has nothing to do with her sporting ovaties. And there are a lot of Democrats opposed to her for valid reasons. She also has the personal charisma of a drowned rat.

She seems to believe that she deserves to be President, that she somehow earned it by not divorcing the Democrat's poster boy. Speaking of which, is it just me or is Bill campaigning like his marriage on the line?
