McCain has lost his mind

Obama's line was delivered and received as a light-hearted poke at the Republican hate machine. He delivered it with a grin and the audiences clearly got the joke.

The Republicans have proven that they are going to try and make scared of Obama. Obama knows exactly what happened to Ford in 2006. FOX has already run a scroll calling Obama's wife his "baby mama."

Obama always links McCain to Bush, for the obvious reason that Bush's approval rating would have to swim up to be in the toilet. But in this case, the linkage serves another purpose. By referring to "Bush and McCain", Obama's criticisms are not directed at just McCain's official campaign, but the entire Republican effort to paint Obama as a "scary black guy".

Remember, the Swift Boat crowd had no official ties to the Bush campaign. It being obvious what tactic the Republicans are going to use, Obama's comments were essentially a vaccination against the attacks that we all know are coming. Now, McCain will be forced to vocally distance himself from that type of attack which will prevent the attacks from getting the traction in the media that the Swift Boat attacks did.

After watching Andrea Mitchell dismember Rick Davis on live TV, I think that the Obama camp has played this week perfectly. I wish I could have seen Davis's face as he was forced to deal with a reporter who didn't just take the fact that Rick Davis was saying X, as proof that X, if not true, was at least a valid world view. What came to my mind was Rush Limbaugh's face when he left his ditto-bubble and appeared on Letterman's show and the crowd was ready to lynch him when he made a "Chelsea is ugly" joke (and I use the term loosely).

Obama's supporters are more energized than McCain's and the end result of the "Low Road" strategy is going to be turning off those in the middle who might have swung McCain's way. After 8 years of Bush, it is going to be really hard to scare people this election cycle, but the terror alerts should be starting soon, so we shall see.

KateTex and the other professionals

Glad to see that the end of the primary season did not leave you unemployed.

I am looking for some extra cash myself these days? How much do you get paid per letter posted?

Original article: In defense of casual sex

I just can't agree here

There is a real problem with the hook-up culture. It isn't a "saving oneself for marriage" versus slutdom black and white argument, but casual sex should not be defended and should certainly not be celebrated.

While my religious beliefs put me in the category of believing that waiting for marriage is the right thing to do, I can't say that I have always followed the creed myself. I recognize that others may not share those beliefs and they are, therefore, not a valid argument against casual sex.

AIDS, however, is. The argument that one only has unprotected sex with people who don't look like they are diseased is, quite frankly, idiotic. If that worked, no one would have AIDS. No one thinks "He looks like he has herpes and the clap, but I am gonna nail him anyway."

Condoms are essential to any casual sex and any argument otherwise is irresponsible. But condoms are not completely effective. The idiocy of the Bush era sex ed has made abstinence a four letter word on the left. It shouldn't be. The absolute best way to avoid preganancy and STDs is to not have sex. There was this this one girl a couple thousand years ago that abstinence didn't work for, but she was an exception, not the rule.

Perhaps it is generational. I grew up believing that sex is something special. (I am a 38 year old man and have had 3 partners, all in long term relationships.) Today's youth don't see oral sex as sex. Ms Clark-Flory seems to fall somewhere in between.

I think that perhaps she should take some time and examine why she felt the need to have sex with these men, when other forms of intimacy might have been more appropriate for the situations. Sex IS a big thing and casual sex diminishes it. I say that sex is a big deal because we spend a very small amount of time doing it, but the role it plays in our lives is much larger. We even define ourselves based on the gender that we choose to have it with. It isn't just another romantic activity.

I believe in marriage, true love, and the whole ball of wax. The sexual bond between two people in love is real and important, in my opinion. If you give sex away like candy, all you will ever have is candy. If you treat sex like a delicacy that is too rich to be indulged in except in the best circumstances, you end up with a lifetime of rich rewards. It doesn't mean that you should never eat candy, but candy should never be a staple of your romantic diet.

No one cares

Sadly, the only people who care about such things are already aware of this and far worse things that the Bush administration has done. Talking about any of the Bush White House crimes is nothing more than preaching to the choir.

The cable networks won't have Vincent Bugliosi on their shows to promote his book The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder. It seems that the common idiot would rather turn a blind eye to the horrific crimes and constitutional rape of the Bush years than face the fact that the President of the United States is a criminal.

Now, if he was getting a blowjob while ordering the CIA to forge documents, it would be newsworthy, but a hundred thousand dead people including over 4000 Americans is hardly anything worth reporting on. Journalism is dead. Did someone forget to give you guys (and gals) the memo?
