A bookstore, yeah, that's smart
[Read the article: My big, fat, unpaid credit card bill]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The author writes:
"There is no shortage of books on the subject of financial recovery. Walking into a bookstore [emphasis mine] and looking for one ..."
Uhhh, I don't suppose the author has ever heard of that strange novelty known as a "public library" ... has she?

"Dynasty" is a TV show
[Read the article: And then there were two]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Thank you, wontgetfooledagain, for calling out the most preposterous pretext for Hillary Hating I have ever heard, the nonsense about “28 years of a Bush-Clinton dynasty.”
What does “Bush-Clinton” mean anyway? Last I checked, the Bushes and the Clintons are not the same family. Repeat, Hillary Clinton is not in fact related to Little or Big Bush, through blood or marriage.
She is a Clinton, through marriage, but even if you just don’t like the idea of family members following one another into office, in the 28 years of that “dynasty” a Clinton was in office less than a third of the time. In contrast, when Little Bush ran in 2000, a Bush had been in office for more than half of the prior 20 years. Funny how I don’t remember anyone — least of all, Republicans, as putative Democrats do in this context — bringing up the “Bush-Clinton dynasty” canard then.
And don’t forget, Barack Obama has been found to be blood kin of Dick Cheney. Why not use the “dynasty” argument against him?

Robert Sandy, You ROCK!
[Read the article: Undecided '08: Should I vote for Clinton or Obama?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Said so much better than I could myself. My heartfelt thanks to you.

Let's look at this from another angle
[Read the article: Hillary Clinton: The Asian-American choice]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I seem to remember polls of some years ago showing that members of racial minorities were less likely than their white counterparts to be Clinton Haters. Ergo, Hillary Clinton today would have an advantage among minorities as compared with whites.
Understandably, Obama has eliminated Hillary’s advantage among blacks, but not necessarily among other minorities. So it’s not so much that Asian (or Latino) voters disfavor Obama, but rather than they still favor Hillary, especially as compared with black voters.
Seems a reasonable way of explaining the phenomenon without having to accuse an entire group of people of being hard-core racist.

What I really wanted Kate Michelman to say to me
[Read the article: What I really wanted to say to Chris Matthews]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I have enormous respect for Kate Michelman, and so I was disappointed to learn she was supporting Obama and not Clinton. Yet I was eager to read what she might say in this article. I know there is a chance that Obama and not Clinton will be our nominee, and I really hoped to hear something from Michelman that might help me to feel good about also supporting Obama, should this scenario come to pass.
Alas, her statements were as empty as his. So I remain disappointed.

Obama ...
[Read the article: Which Democrat can beat McCain?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]... although Hillary would have been an incomparably better president. So sad, the enduring power of a smear. Despite her extraordinary stamina, perseverence, and courage she won't be able to overcome it. It is heartbreaking.

@calderon: amen!
[Read the article: Which Democrat can beat McCain?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Thank you, Calderon, for this:
"Can we please stop hearing from you people in the so-called red states who want us to know that you and your illiberal friends and relatives are not going to vote for Hillary Clinton under any circumstances, but that you WILL vote for Obama?"
I don't share your optimism that HRC can prevail over the spouters of this self-fulfilling nonsense, but I appreciate your calling them on it. They remind me of the Nader voters who ragged all over Gore for supposedly running a lousy campaign. IOW, "What a schmuck, he should have been able to win without MY vote."

@ Hillary "is dead politically."
[Read the article: Hillary's time of troubles]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Gosh, but that phrase sounds familiar. Wasn't it said of some fellow on the GOP side not long ago?

@whitecat, cythera, zoetrope
[Read the article: Hillary's time of troubles]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Re: "That about sums it up for many Hillary Clinton supporters, who may not be visible on the 'net, or in the media, or even in the real world, for the reasons you state."
Amen. HRC stealth supporters. I wonder, when we read the polls, could there be a "Reverse Bradley Effect" wherein HRC voters are uncomfortable expressing their preference even to pollsters? Could this account for New Hampshire?
Although I am pessimistic at times about this race, I am totally psyched to see the "heartland" women (and some men) come out for HRC in droves. Not the folks who post on Salon, to be sure. But the ones who make their opinions known loud and clear in the privacy of the voting booth.
Works for me.

[Read the article: Hillary's time of troubles]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Re: "Obama is of the essence of "cool." Hillary is its anthithesis. She is so very "un-cool.""
Agreed. He does seem like the kind of guy you'd like to have a latte with.

It's not about Chelsea ...
[Read the article: David Shuster, scapegoat?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]and it's not about the naughty thing Shuster said and it's not about "whining" (as so many Hillary Haters have accused her of doing).
It's about Hillary striking back against an unrelenting, decade-plus campaign of hate against her and her husband. A campaign of hate that MSNBC and their fellow travelers have never questioned, as serious journalists would. A campaign of hate whose propaganda the MSM has been all too happy to parrot.
I agree with Joan that Shuster is taking the fall for a lot more than his transgression alone. Wow, such a shame.

@drichmond
[Read the article: Paul Krugman criticizes Obama supporters]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"p.a.mb.'s reference to Obama as BHO, maybe it's just me but the H in BHO since this is the first time I've seen it in this context here isn't too subtle a reference to his gasp horrors middle name..."
Uh, sorry to take this sturm und drang to a lighter place, but would you rather the LW had written his initials *without* the H?
Poor Obama. This guy was blessed with a lot of political gifts, but his name isn't one of them. I support Hillary all the way, but if I were leaning instead toward him, I would try to coin something a little more like 'Bama (pronounced like "Bamma"). You know, football and all that.
