How can the republicans pick someone like Tomas to on Justice sub committee and Appropriations Committee and have people take them seriously? I expect that the powers to be within the party are trying to show that their man is innocent until proven GUILTY, but do you trust this man to treat any position of power with the repect it should be. Its just business as usual with the republicans.

Again the Neocons missed the boat, they lost the war in the planning stage. They refused to listen to those that had been there before. there was absolute NO PLANNING for the aftermath. Again then have give new validity to the 7P's axiom.

Proper prior planning prevent PISS POOR performance.

And the Neocons forgot the Powell Doctorine: Don't go in without a CLEAR EXIT STRATGY in HAND.

What I cannot understand is where has the dauntless “Fourth Estate”* been for the last ten years. It does take a genius to know that Shrub was NOT what he appeared to be as Governor of Texas and a Candidate for President. Here was a man without any endowments or talents whatsoever trying to become president.

But there was no one within the Fourth Estate with the courage of their convictions to tell the truth about this man, that he was a recovering besotted drunk who by all accounts only liked to party. How could anyone believe that he had leadership qualities hidden within his alcohol desensitized brain.

Where was the first Bush all of this ! He knew better than anyone that his son was completely incapable of being a leader of anything, let alone the United State of America. Where was all the supposed wisdom of the Republican Party Leadership, why were they so hellbent on committing political suicide by backing this man. The only man who ever grew in the Office of the President was Gerald Ford, a talent he displayed so often by hitting his head while alighting from his helicopter.

What were we collectively thinking in 2000, and then make the same damn mistake in 2004. Did we really question this man, the man who could not even read a speech off the Teleprompter, why didn’t this fact give us pause? When people who were NOT republicans were excluded from his campaign speeches, why didn’t this fact give us pause?

There were so many signs given to us, why did we not take cognizance of these signs. Do we really hate Democrats so much that we were ready to elect a person of such non intelligence, who does not like to read, is not questioning on how things work or what people are telling him. Who like only to be blandished by his entourage

We are now getting ready to elect a new president will we take cognizance of all the mistakes WE made in electing George W. Bush the 43td President , god I hope so!

*Edmund Burke, looking up at the Press Gallery of the House of Commons, said, 'Yonder sits the Fourth Estate, and they are more important than them all. (Emphasis Added)

Is there really one single person out there who thinks a 73 year old man can take on the duties as President of the US. I think not, his history is worst than Shrub, He may well have Alzheimer's for all we know remember Ronald Reagan. His attitude towards people is very incommodious, and like the Shrub is noted for telling off color stories at the wrong time.

I would rather have a new President who brought a clear, clean breath of fresh air onto the political scene. From what McCain has said its appears, in my opinion, to be more and more of the same old tired GOP rhetoric. No new ideas, methods, etc.

Thank you and really take a closer look at this man, take off your party hat, all your inbred prejudges, look at him closely, and above all LISTEN to what he says and has said. Be sure to get your info not on FOX

  • Summer Morritorium of fereral Excise Tax On Gasoline

I cannot beleive that there are so many unterly stupid people out there in both political parties who made this an ISSUE did not go and read the Tax Code covering refunds of excise tax. Just so those who read this can say that they are smarter that McDumb or Clinton here is what the Statute Says:

"Sec. 6416. Certain taxes on sales and services

    (1) General rule

No credit or refund of any overpayment of tax imposed by chapter 31 (relating to retail excise taxes), or chapter 32 (manufacturers taxes), shall be allowed or made unless the person who paid the tax establishes, under regulations prescribed by the Secretary, that he -

    (A) has not included the tax in the price of the article with respect to which it was imposed and has not collected the amount of the tax from the person who purchased such article;

    (B) has repaid the amount of the tax to the ultimate purchaser of the article; "

In 1971, Nixon in his infinite wisdom repealed the excise tax on passenger cars and light duty trucks. I participated in the mamouth refund back then and we spent millions in AdMin costs getting these refunds to the purchasers. I am completely surprised that no one at the IRS Excise Tax Branch has not said something. In my day they would have said something by now. Must be they need help. State sales taxes are much different, maybe someone else can speak to that.

But you notice the oil cartel has been deftly silent, makes you wonder.

But to all and sundry Obana came out on the issue in the Stratophere agaist the likes of Clinton and Mc Blank.
