If you're pro-life...
[Read the article: Can you be both pro-life and a feminist?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]You'd damn well better be a HUGE supporter of birth control. Emphasize condom and pill awareness and availability from a young age, and fewer abortions will be needed.
Unfortunately, it seems like pro-lifers don't often take that approach. They want abortion banned, birth control access limited, abstinence-only education enforced. And somehow they think that this combination will produce a generation of happy young women who don't give birth until they're ready.

Innocent observation
[Read the article: Quote of the day]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"In an interview with George Washington's campus newspaper, Wilson credited his concern for social justice -- and women's rights in particular -- to his Baha'i faith."
OK. I credit mine to having my eyes open.

Jesus, another cocktail party allusion
[Read the article: McCain: I've gone to Palin for foreign policy advice]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Who goes to more cocktail parties, I wonder... the rich guy with a trophy wife and a dozen houses, or the family man with one house and one car?

The importance of this movie
[Read the article: Bill Maher vs. the "talking snake"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]There hasn't been a truly mainstream piece of anti-religion media in ages. Agnostics like me and Bill Maher help make up a huge but mostly silent group who have been made to sit quietly while others trumpet their pro-God views loudly and, often, obnoxiously. This film tells those people NOT to confuse our silence for agreement. We, too, have a voice now, and the truth is on our side -- truth meaning facts, not that sacrosanct but unprovable concept of Truth -- and it's hard to imagine a more important time in history to make a case against organized religion.

I call foul.
[Read the article: Palin uses Ayers, Wright to attack Obama]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Palin's fingers would burn if she ever touched a copy of the NYT.

How is this guy not ahead by 20-30 points?
[Read the article: Have yourself an Election Eve cry]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]It boggles the mind. This is one of the most effective presidential candidates either party has produced in decades, and he's still had to work overtime to edge out a mean, borderline senile guy who picked an airhead for a running mate.
I don't get America sometimes. Sigh... I guess that means it's time to pal around with some terrorists. Catch you kids later.
