Amazing Appointments in American History

This just confirms why George Bush stands by Gonzales as his Attorney General and appointed him in the fist place. It has nothing to do with George's blind loyalty to Alberto. The political cost of publicly supporting Gonzales is nothing compared to the value of having Gonzales 1) use the power of the office to cover up for administration malfeasance 2) take the heat off the White House. Bush and Rove are just fine with the prosecutors scandal because they know it's just such small potatoes.

We have an Attorney General of the United States using his office to impede investigations into shenanigans he was a part of while he was White House Counsel. Amazing!

Thank you Democrats

Thank you for being so concerned about that embarrassing MoveOn ad while we were taking over your government and power and money.

Thank you for trying so hard to point out the hypocrisy of Larry Craig and all those “GOP scandals” while we were taking over your government and power and money.

Thank you for trying so hard to not look like unpatriotic wimps during the Patraeus show while we were taking over your government and power and money.

Thanks for being so insightful about the incompetence of our (heh) president while we were taking over your government and power and money.

Thanks for being such good patriots and such good sports and "moving on" (heh) after finding out about those non-existent WMD's, and after hearing about those missing billions in Iraq, and after losing your kids while we were taking over your government and your power and your money.

Gosh, thanks so much for playing along. We couldn't have done it without you. We don't understand it, but thanks just the same. And keep up the good work!

Bill Maher vs. Rep. Rahm Emanuel last Friday Night

Did I miss it or has no one yet commented on Rahm Emanuel's revelations about the Dems strategy on Iraq: Just let it go until we have a new President? Asked about de-funding the war by Bill Maher, Emanuel's defense was shocking, to me anyway. I would have expected Joan Walsh or Glenn Greenwald to comment on it.

"We don't torture"

If your president says "We don't torture" and then refuses to say what torture is because that's a big secret that if our enemies found out they'd be able to harm us, just realize that the "enemies" he's talking about might be an independent judiciary or an international criminal court and the "harm" he's talking about might be war crimes trials. Anyway, if he does not, by his actions, stand firmly in favor of internationally recognized standards against torture, you not only do not live in a free country, you are being intimidated not to bring it up.

It's a free country...right?

If you live in a country where some of the wealthiest, most powerful people are able to get the laws changed in order to transform their past or future acts from criminal to completely legal and those same wealthy and powerful people are helping the lawmakers to keep their law making power by giving them money, and especially if those law maker’s new criminal-to-legal laws cost you your privacy or liberty, well, even if you ARE one of the wealthy and powerful you don’t live in a free country, you literally live in a country run by criminals.

@Mr_Humidity gets it.

Thank you Democrats.

Thank you for being so concerned about the honesty of our military spokespeople, while we were helping ourselves to all your money and power and government.

(This being satire, I do still wholeheartedly admire and support Mr. Greenwald's work)

If Richard Nixon had committed the Watergate dirty tricks and cover up during 21st Century America…

... there would have been no scandal, much less impeachment.
