said - The momentum is all for McCain now... 20 point swing in white women voters, well up in the state-by-state polls in places the left never thought he stood a chance. Obama was just a big self-inflated bubble now burst.
McCain/Palin do represent our interests, despite what the left tries to say about corporate interests. Creating jobs creates wealth. Obama wants socialist wealth redistribution, which is proven time and again to be completely counterproductive.
#### We redistribute wealth to a degree in Canada, and we all have health care (no insurance companies standing between us and the doctor - no bureaucrat either in the way insurance companies do it). If you want ANYTHING, you're going to have to pay taxes. Jeez, having highways is redistribution of wealth - you want to build your own roads? You believe these people who are seeking power IN ORDER TO CUT DOWN GOVERNMENT? What a laugh. And creating jobs is a great thing - but you gotta have a PLAN, not just mouth words. (Obama has some solid ideas...speaking of highways, or the bridges at least.) (Not to nowhere...)
benny - Why do they love Sarah, and tout her background? Because she's not an elitist hypoctical self-appointed messiah like Obama. She's a real person and understands their plight. And John McCain knows, from braving torture and running a large naval fleet, the kind of adversaries we will soon be facing, and he knows evil when he sees it.
#### But do they know what to DO about "real people" and their plight? Sympathizing on the campaign trail won't even get you a cup of coffee. What does McCain plan to do (let alone what does that ditz have in mind).
benny - Obama is Neville Chamberlain, appeasing Hitler, and McCain is Churchill, the ultimate realist. As Churchill said to Chamberlain, "You were given the choice between war and dishonour. You chose dishonour, and you will have war."
#### Obama was scaring me with declarations months ago about going into Pakistan! He pointed out that Iraq wasn't the problem - Bin Laden and his boys are elsewhere. And as for this appeasement crap - talk isn't necessarily appeasement. Christ, I'm even in favor of talking to idiots, and am hereby demonstrating it.
#### Oh damn, sorry, I hate these intemperate self-righteous posts, and here I'm doing it...but that's another thing to admire about Obama:- He keeps his cool and his humour in the face of idiots.
These STUPID people who are so obsessed with abortion and gays that they can't even think about the economy or the war... They would vote - their lives and everyone else's - on these puerile issues...
And good for you too!
And for an encouraging report from the trenches.
Not all Christians are religious nuts. But from everything that's out there about Palin, SHE is.
but first, Dee Dee, you mention a very important (and terrifying) point - where the hell is McCain's damned 'honor'?? He has aligned himself with the people who crucified him in previous years with their obscene tactics, all to win office...and the choice of Palin (I live in the boonies, and the mayor of my municipality is not qualified to be VP even tho our population is around 7000) is incredibly dishonorable - to the country, to women, to men, and, a la SNL last night, Hilary Clinton. But, bafflingly, to himself!
You said - "...in Canada, concern about health care costs is just not an issue. They like their health care a lot. Is that how you feel? Is that how most Canadians feel? I have over the years inculcated a sense that Canadians are not happy with their national health care system--too many waits, etc.--but I came home very inspired."
#### You can always find complainers. In big cities, there may be waits for certain things. I live in the boonies, and I have got good service - instant service when I had problems. Ditto everyone I know...and including relatives in the city. And, yes, never a worry about the bills. I'm DELIGHTED to pay more in my taxes and I don't mind sharing this with my fellow citizens.
Also, bear in mind that the propaganda machine in the U.S. paints Canadian healthcare in negative terms, which is not the way most beneficiaries here feel.
a yakkity, smelly, messy, all-round annoying person, then you gotta do it, for your own sanity. There would be no point in asking a yakkity person to stifle themselves - never works. Smelly and messy are hard to ignore if they gall you (and less likely to be addressed by the culprit than yakking). You escaped - good on you. There'll always be someone pissed at you - shrug it off. (Work towards getting an office to yourself...)
Tongues! V.P. debate! YESS!!
Love the way you craft this post.
re F.H. & "issues" - Amen brother.
Aha! The mark of (Mc)Cain!
said - I thank God...
That this country will have President Cariboo Barbie (she is only a 70-something heartbeat away, after all) to preserve us from witchcraft and Vladimir Putin.
Oh yeah, and the Canucks too.
#### You'd better watch out - if that crazy person becomes prez, we'll effing invade you and take over Washington. We invaded once before, and won (or something), and you-all are in such a mess we could do it again. Steven Harper for Prez. Oh wait a minute. Stephan Dion? Jack Layton? Elizabeth May? Well, why not - any of them are better than this blithering Palin idjit. (Just caught a couple of cringe-making exerpts from Couric interview. Unbelievable.)
