Of all the people he could have had an affair with, he chose a notorious middle-aged party girl who was so infamous she was said to be the basis for a character in a Brett Easton Ellis novel. If that wasn't bad enough, he supposedly fathered a kid with her and to top it all off, did all this while he was trying to run for one of the most high-profile jobs on the planet. Seriously, WTF was he thinking?!
Whether she stays or goes is ulitmately Elizabeth Edwards's choice, but I agree she has no obligation at all to make him play Daddy to Hunter's child if he is the father. The woman has stage 4 cancer and 2 young kids who aren't even in their teens. She has enough on her plate. The only one who can do the right thing is John. Also, if Elizabeth had so much control over her husband then I doubt he would have cheated on her.
for continuing to extend this woman's 15 mins of fame. Unless she is actually running for office, why give her any attention?
