Re: Calif Mike

It is none of your business whether her daughter is married or not. And at least leave the children alone!

She made it everyone's business when she paraded her family around at the RNC and let her self be painted as this "family values" VP nominee. Actually, I would like to think it is none of Palin or anyone else's business if I or any other American woman choses to have an abortion but hey, she doesn't mind making that her business.

Frankly, I wonder if you would be saying this if it was Obama who had an unwed teen daughter who had given birth esp. if she was knocked up by a guy had a Myspace page anything like Levi Johnston who proudly called himself "a f****ing redneck." Why do I think there is a better chance of Sarah Palin becoming the president of MENSA than that happening?

Calif Mike

You completely missed the point of my letter. BTW, where did I say I hated anyone much less the Palin children? Also, I noticed you also avoided the question of would you feel the same way if this was Obama's daughter. Typical.

BTW, Mike

It's OK. You can have as many abortions as you want. This article was not about you. As I said before, leave the kids alone. Don't spread your hatred over the next two generations.

Good thing to know I can have as many abortions as I want esp. since I have some free time this week.

BTW, Mike, these kids are going to have real problems and it isn't going to be as a result of what salon.com letters writers think about their decision. Hopefully, the next generation will have access to fact-based information about contraception before they spread their legs and spawn another generation of ignorant off-spring.

I wonder

if all the posters who find it so wrong and demeaning for salon.com to merely mention that Bristol Palin has given birth will feel the same way if/when PEOPLE publishes the "exclusive" first photos of the happy family posing with their new addition? Photos, BTW, which PEOPLE is reportedly willing to pay up to $300K. Will that still be an invasion of privacy?

Frankly, if anyone is responsible for Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston's lack of privacy it is her mother for parading both of them before the international media at the RNC.

The only thing that is truly demeaning is that these two high school dropouts stand to make $300K. Now that really is demeaning to the teen parents who actually stay in school and make an effort to get their diplomas and in some cases even go off to college because they have the foresight to realize that even the majority of McJobs today require a diploma.

Did your rant have a point?

"Spread their legs" is yet another example of this grossness but what can you expect from a pig except a grunt.

Actually, if you read the letter it was in response to, you would see it was a response to the claim that I was "spreading my hatred to the next generation." My point was, these kids are going to have problems NONE of which have to do with what the letter writers on here say.

The Palins aren't using the turkey-baster it's fair to conclude, unlike deracinated people who resent human fertility.

Totally lost me there. I cannot even begin to imagine what you meant by that or your claim that somehow I or anyone resent human fertility. (I find this all the more ironic since I happen to be 19 weeks pregnant, but I digress.)

Bob

Great letter, but it will probably fall on deaf ears.

A lot of people like our pal, Mo, deliberately come to sites like this to pick fights. If she went to any of the sites you mentioned, then no one would pay attention to her. She would be outnumbered by the other posters who share her opinions and it's kind of hard to start flame wars with people by saying, "I agree."

And Mo, don't deny it. Calling posters "pigs" is a sure-fire way to start a flame war. Unfortunately for you, I didn't take the bait. And really, that bizarro rant about turkey basters was all the proof I needed to see that you weren't really interested in a debate or even discussing the topic at hand.

So, pointed out that Sarah Palin paraded her kids AND Levi Johnston who is not her child shows I hate her and her family? Interesting. . .

On a percentage basis, many more young girls get pregnant in the urban areas such as New York, Chicago, Los Angeles etc. than in Alaska.

Is that taking into account that the vast differences in population? And in any case, what does this have to do with Bristol Palin's situation?

Re: You Right Wingers Just Don't Get It

No, they don't. They like to point out that other teens get pregnant, they like to get off on tangents about names, they like to claim that anyone who dares point out that Sarah Palin made her daughter and her daugher's, er, fiance national figures by presenting them on international tv must 'hate' this family. (I'm just waiting for the 'you must be jealous' claim which seems to come after the 'you must hate these people' claim.)

The fact is, I and every other person on here knows that other teenagers get pregnant. We're just pointing out the sheer hypocrisy on the right over this particular situation. Frankly, it's kind of funny to see these folks bend over backwards to put a positive spin on this.
