The Bush Administration nominates to be US Attorney General the guy who said it's okay-fine to commit torture. Thousands of men and even boys, many likely innocent, rot away in a legal netherworld purposedly set up that way with a great big fuck you to human rights organizations and the UN. U.S. citizens are declared enemy combatants then dribbled here and there like a basketball to escape unfavorable court rulings. Ordinary Americans are lied to, spied upon, illegally held when they protest, barred from speaking in the presence of King George, and probably investigated in ways we have yet to learn. The outrageousness from this Administration is endless. Yet what's the response? Over half of the country votes to re-elect. In my opinion everyone who voted for Bush the second time (they can be forgiven the first), including my own father, is damned to hell and deservedly so. "You're either for me or against me." That's probably the only time Bush has not lied.
Republicans will always use any and all dirty tricks to gain an advantage. The Democrats can't. If they could, they wouldn't be the true party of values and voice of decency for the common people. The question to ask is why are these elections even close enough for the "marginalizations" to work? Until the Dims can figure out that one, we'll continue to be fuming on the sidelines while the Repugnicans rub their hands all the way to the bank.
They've probably had him zipped up in a body bag in a deep freezer for eight months awaiting the best politically opportune moment to "kill him" -- like when news of Haditha finally came out. An "air raid" hides the torture marks too. Too cynical and paranoid? Blame it on the Bush administration.
It all comes down to this: Are the American people so stupid/clueless/brainwashed as to actually vote for more-of-the-same as has occurred in the past 6 miserable years? I don't think so. Yet I didn't think so in 2004 either.
They're also better at voter manipulation, election fraud, and outright lying about the issues. What the Dems have to be better at is getting out a message. And "Had Enough?" should be the one and only.
She can't think. Why would she be able to write?
The Bush administration has already lowered the standards of how a product can qualify as organic. For example, a beef cow can be hormone-free simply during finishing in the feedlot before slaughter to qualify, never mind all the growth hormones (prepared for your 8 year old daughter to hit puberty after her short life spent eating hamburgers?) received previously. And who is going to police even those pathetic standards down in Mexico? The grower that's who. Here's another eye-opener for all the lovers of Wal-Mart's wonderful cheap produce grown God knows where. South American and Third World countries use pesticides that have been banned in the U.S. for some 30 years. Where else do you think our outlawed poison went?
Imagine the possibilities!
While I sympathize with the families who lost loved ones from the attacks of 9/11, that sympathy is no more or less than felt toward families who lost or continue to lose loved ones to senseless murder, accidents involving drunk drivers or cancer. As far as the commemoration events that we are deluged with today and each Sept. 11th, I tune it out. I simply don't care all that much. A FAR more important day is November 7th when the people have the power to get the real danger to America out of office -- the Republican controlled Congress.
From today's Richmond VA daily:
Warner campaign support grows in Va.
BY JEFF E. SCHAPIRO
TIMES-DISPATCH STAFF WRITER Sep 12, 2006
Democrat Mark R. Warner stands a better chance of carrying his GOP-leaning home state as a presidential candidate in 2008 than Republican George Allen, The Times-Dispatch Poll shows.

Allen shows about as much respect for the Jewish faith as he does for people of color.
The Democrats must oppose this bill because they are not the evil party. It's that black and white. Anyone who supports anyone who supports Bush & Co. supports torture. It's that simple. Elsewise, what excuse could anyone possibly give standing before God on Judgment Day? "I was afraid"? "It was only a little bit of torture"? "I might not get re-elected"?
You can't throw a stick without hitting someone who uses the n-word. The good ole boy racists even consider it a form of endearment for "their" niggrahs. If Allen wants to fit in the club, by God he better say it ... of course with a wink and a smile for political correctness. My opinion as a result is no lower than it already was for him and his ilk. I'm far more worried about his riding around with a severed deer head looking for the ideal mailbox to stuff it into. Now that's disturbing.
The only box this yaller dawg Dem needs to see checked is "possesses common decency and integrity," which the Repugs sorely lack. Mark Warner has it in spades.
What a laughable sentence. The Democrats hold nothing but a hint of promise in the November elections. The vast majority of the American people are sheep. When a flock of sheep hears a strange noise, it starts to get really nervous. When a flock of sheep sees an unfamiliar shape in the terrain, it starts to get rather jumpy. And when a flock of sheep gets a glimpse of its own shadow on the ground, it turns and bolts. The only way a flock of sheep can be managed is to be led with some gentle nipping at the rear. Let the Dems regain leadership positions before writing them and the country off.
