  • Talk about depressing repression

[Read the article: A gulag for the CIA?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Makes you want to move to Haiti -- warmer climate, less efficient tax collection system, and the voodoo might actually work on the Bush doll!

  • An even better trend?

[Read the article: 2005 elections: A bad day for the GOP]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

And maybe just maybe Virginia's voters issued a stamp of approval for well-run government like the past 4 years under Gov. Warner. Dare we hope?

  • Dramamine supply must be getting depleted

[Read the article: "Official A" gets a standing "O"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Otherwise they'd be too dizzy to walk from all the spin.

  • A lot men know

[Read the article: Hormonal holiday shopping]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

My husband too claims that he can "tell" when I'm PMSing. I assure him that on the contrary he's capable of turning me into a raging bitch a straight 365 days a year.

As far as shopping, I loathe it unless I'm sitting on my ass in front of a computer, just have to reach for my credit card, and tote only my empty wine glass to the kitchen & back.

As far as what I'm buying this Christmas season, it's the impersonal-one-size-fits-all-always-appreciatedsincenobodyhasanycluewhatIwant gift certificate.

  • At least Kerry bothered

[Read the article: House gets set to vote on bogus Iraq resolution]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I'm on ALL the Democrats' email lists and this is the only one I got regarding the attacks on Murtha after his outburst. The problem with Kerry is you have to read between the lines to know where he stands (hey, HE knows what he means!). I think it's pretty safe to say he agrees that the Iraq war is a fucked-up mess and the U.S. should begin withdrawal as soon as possible.

  • Like all bullies

[Read the article: Democrats won't filibuster Alito, but why not?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

the GOP under the Bush administration is all bluff. That's how they've silenced the media. That's how they won congressional approval for an illegal war. And that's how they've cowered Democrats since 9/11. Like all bullies you don't stop 'em till you stand up to 'em, simple as that.

I've heard about a 100 arguments for not invoking the filibuster and they all sound like chickenshit excuses for turning tail and running. About the most pitiful is "maybe Allito won't be so bad."

  • For all it's worth

[Read the article: Alito, Bush and the Democrats: What did you expect?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I've already ordered my new bumper sticker: "If you cut my reproductive options, can I cut off yours?"

  • Not nearly so polite

[Read the article: I support the troops, but the police chief is an "idiot"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The email I sent said he simply wasn't fit to serve in the so-called House of Representatives.

  • Bush & Cheney's Faustian Bargain

[Read the article: Noonan: This could be the end for Dick Cheney]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

It demands that they both stay or they both go. In my opinion, we're seeing the beginnings of the latter.

  • That's an interesting topic for discussion

[Read the article: Playing games with breaking the law]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Are "true" Americans -- as opposed to those who just happen to be born here and can't afford to and/or are too entrenched in a rut to go live somewhere else more civilized like the countryside of Italy or France or peaceable escapement such as Costa Rica or Tibet (sorry, I digress) -- the ones who display the patrio-fascist yellow or red-white-blue stickers from China-supplying Wal-Mart on their gas-guzzling SUVs while blindly following the lead of a lying incompetent immoral President from a party which will stoop to any underhanded tactic to win, OR are the true Americans those who hold the ideals of the Constitution and Bill of Rights and the Founding Fathers above the next-to-nonexistent threat that some dark-skinned turban-wearing religious jihadist, who hates our guts because of the very reason that Americans don't seem to believe in anything outside of their immediate realm of personal gratification, is hiding under the bed?

  • Rather than "liberal," "Dem," "fringe," or "left"

[Read the article: Censure a sop to the lefty fringe? A poll says no]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The only label necessary to describe the president's actions is "wrong."

  • Must be for the fun of it then

[Read the article: From the Bush administration, a timely change in torture rule]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Everyone knows no useful information comes from torture recipients.

  • Problems uniquely her own?

[Read the article: For Katherine Harris, one very costly dinner]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

On the contrary, accepting kickbacks, lying, coercing those who question them, and painting a rosy picture in the face of apocalyptical disaster are the modus operandi of GOP politicans in general. The reason they face between a setback and a rout in November (I predict the latter) is because the average soccer mom & NASCAR dad voter are finally waking up to realize they've been played for a patsy. No one likes that -- not even a dim-witted Republican.

  • Ho-hum

[Read the article: Meanwhile, a word about impeachment]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

It's going to take more than Democrats in power to bring about impeachment. A solid majority of the American people (not just the ever-whining liberals) will need to express some outrage, demand accountability, and favor punishment in the form of firing. And that's not likely to happen when that majority is a bunch of sheeple making little to no effort to ask questions, search out the truth or lift their heads from the sand in which said heads been stuck for the past 5-6 years. It's always easier to do nothing than it is to do something.

  • Another time, another nation

[Read the article: Oh, say can you care?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Watching fellow Americans getting worked up over such trivia might have been funny before the Bush Administration was emboldened enough by the patriotism following 9/11 to freely spy on its own citizens and to declare "enemy combatants" in a fictious war. Now that we know any of us can be held without charges or trial for years on end, in a setting where torture is inflicted with impunity, is "who gives a shit" the best response of the remaining 31%?

  • Not so secretive

[Read the article: ABC report: Government is tracking reporters' calls]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

When has the Bush Administration kept quiet about its disdain for the Constitution? About its intolerance of protesters? Disrespect for human rights? Eagerness to silence dissenters? Arrogance in the face of the illegal activities it carries out? Why is anyone surprised by this? There are two more long years left, and it's only going to get worse I'm afraid as the rats feel more and more cornered. I would suggest that the revolution go underground. Er, metaphorically speaking of course.

  • Today I pledge to yield to all of "them"

[Read the article: I've had it!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

To thank God and celebrate the mercy shown my father whose prostate cancer has not spread.

  • Even Better

[Read the article: For the Times, another gutter awaits]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Was the Globe's "before" and "after" pix of Laura's facelift. Sanctimonius prude.

  • This is creepy?

[Read the article: Cheney and the penknife]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

This is the man who wears the permanent sinister half-smirk. Who shot a good friend, the one who ended up apologizing for it. Who didn't bother to tell his boss about it for a couple days. Whose own daughter could not quit his re-election campaign despite not only his political posture but his personally-held belief that "her kind" only deserves to exist as a lesser member of society. Who disappears for weeks on end to God knows where for purposes wtf. Whose ticker refuses to quit despite every reason it should have years ago. I wouldn't be surprised if he's also using the penknife to cut up the afterbirth from albino 10-toed bat fetuses, spearing then salting every piece before popping them in his mouth.
