Where's PETA when you need 'em

Rush Limbaugh gives pigs a bad reputation. Look at that blob o' raw pork face of his. I think that Rush needs to run in 2012 and his running mate needs to be Levi Johnston's mom since she's up on drug charges. Maybe she and Rush could hand out free meds while campaigning.

A party in desperate straits

I watched as Rush stood at the mike, wiping his nose with one hand and then wiping his snot onto both hands. Perhaps coke gave him sniffles? Seriously though, the people who spoke at CPAC were desperados, clinging not to lofty ideals, or aspirations for the country, but rather, debasing themselves with hope for failure, using the entire country as their sacrificial lamb. I think that if in fact, it is the White House's intention to turn Rush into the GOP spokesperson (and I'm not sure it is), what a smart move. I highly doubt that the more moderate Republicans and Independents find Lamebaugh a compelling leader. I could be wrong though.

@froggy

My heart goes out to you. It's such a tough decision, and my suggestion is that you find another vet. A second opinion can't hurt, particularly if your vet isn't taking other factors into account. Mercifully, we had a vet who helped us say goodbye to our cat - the vet came out to the house and within minutes it was over - peaceful and quick. I hope my own death is as smooth. Good luck to you - your dog is lucky to have you.

Healthcare as highway robbery

The "healthcare" insurance companies are in the business to deny people. But there are some doctors who are equally to blame. I get cold sores - no big deal. I've been getting them since I was a kid and I use a topical prescription ointment Zovirax. When my Zovirax ran out, I called my doctor's office to get a refill. No way. My doctor insisted that I come into her office, so she could make sure it really was a cold sore and then write a prescription. It took a good chunk out of my day, so she could look at my cold sore and go "hey, you have a cold sore!", charge me $150 and write a script.

Cramer's Crater

I'm just a regular ol' blue collar gal - no genius IQ here, but here's what I don't understand about all these pundits. If you're backed into a corner and you've clearly spouted really bad advice, just apologize. Yes, apologize and admit you made a mistake. Getting defensive not only makes Cramer looks incredibly, well, er, defensive, but it makes him look stupid, unrepetant and even more arrogant than he is. Has anyone told him that the volume of his voice does not make what he is saying more intelligent or useful?

Jeez o' Pete.

@Poco

No, it wasn't like this under apartheid. I grew up in South Africa and under apartheid, white men were equal opportunity rapists - they raped black women and white women, but especially black women because it was yet another form of political subjugation. How do you think the mixed race came to be? Hope that answers your (fatuous) question.

Irony

I find it ironic and amusing that, statistically, for every 10 Quiverfull offspring that come into this world, at least one will be gay or lesbian. It's recruiting season, so breed on!

Cramer's Lies

My hunch is that CNBC forced Cramer to go on the Daily Show and make nice, heavily disguised as a human being. CNBC couldn't themselves deal with all the negative publicity. But I also believe that Cramer lied about not knowing that the CEO's lied to him. Here's the real test ... have Cramer make his financial portfolio transparent and let's see what trades he did and when he did them. Did he follow the "advice" he was spewing or was that merely pablum for the masses?

I'm no lawyer but

If the former AIG employees were bonused as a way to keep them, and they left the company with their bonuses, isn't that breach of contract? And why aren't they being sued? I'm no fan of litigation, but we're being given this drivel about "contractual obligations" - wouldn't that mean that former employees are held to that standard too?

Employment for the Ex-Gay Ministry and Ted Haggard

What a boon this could be for ol' Teddy -I-had-sex-with-men-and-am-still-attracted-to-men-but-I'm-not-gay-Haggard. He and his Ex-Gay pals could make themselves a mint, especially since using gays and lesbians as a wedge during election time didn't work so well for them last time.

@ Greenbriar

If you're going to gratuitously insult someone, or even just plain insult them, as you have done to CARY Tennis, at least have the courtesy and ability to read in order to get the person's name correct, OK? It's Cary, not Gary.

@Marc22309

I too appreciate your postings and thoughtfulness. It is amazing how many of the posters here are fixated upon the fact that the LW was drunk and therefore at fault. If the LW had been throwing up because she was undergoing chemotherapy, would she have garnered more sympathy from these posters?

Do what I do

Get yourself a nice little clamshell-shaped Virgin Mobile phone. I paid $30 at RadioShack and then I got a $2 jacket for it at a fleamarket. No one ever asks to use my cellphone.

@Laurel962

Great post especially about the health hazards. I do have one point to make about Freecycle as an organization. I used to be an active member, until someone posted religiously-themed homophobic books to give away (the books were along the lines of "alcoholism, sex addiction and homosexuality".) Not only did Freecycle allow these items to be posted, but they termed them "self help" and also violated their own rules about "no adult material" being allowed. Perhaps there are some freecyclers out there who sit around the fire with their kindergarten-aged kids and talk about sex addiction, who knows? When I wrote to Freecycle, my complaint was ignored, so now I give my stuff to National Children's Center and get a nice tax deduction.
