Vows

Do not be roped in by what another poster said about those "in sickness and in health" vows. It's a classic trap. If indeed your ceremony was like a hetero marriage, then she promised to love, honor, and cherish you. She did not hold up her end of the bargain, now did she?

As for those who talk about AA being a religion that doesn't work and all that - some people find it very useful and life-saving. Just because a lot of folks aren't willing to work the program doesn't mean it's worthless. I have seen the miracle of my ex, Mr. Three DWIs, becoming sober through AA. I have a lot of respect for the program now despite all the flaws that others like to harp on. It saves lives.

Facing Reality

I think you did the right thing. My family knows a couple who adopted a toddler from the former Soviet Union despite all the warnings that children were often terribly mistreated in his orphanage. They were too in love with the dream to listen to the warnings.

The boy has behavior problems like you would not believe. He pees in the corners of his room, sets fires, rages, hits, hates, bites, hurts animals, and all the specialists in the world have not been able to help this poor angel find peace. Nothing has helped him - not coddling and love, not medication, not therapy. Nothing. His rage is a part of his being and he's a teen now. He has barely been able to absorb an education of any kind. God only knows what he will do or become as an adult.

His adoptive parents are broken. Their dream has become a nightmare. They have never said it but I think they would have rather been childless than endure this.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! As the mother of a child who has just flunked out of community college, I remind you that our children, biological or otherwise, can be a pain in the ass.

"Looming Defeat"?

Did you hear the Japanese bombed San Francisco and Dewey won?

Amusing

I am always amused by the letters section after these types of articles - the assumptions are astonishing.

I got pregnant when I was 18 and had the baby at 19. I could have easily had an abortion but I didn't want to. I earned a B.A., then an M.S., with my child at my side every step of the way. I currently earn a six-figure salary. If anyone tried to "shame" us I never noticed cause I generally don't give a rat's ass what other people think.

I did need some help from the public - financial aid for my studies (mostly guaranteed loans) and I attended public universities. I am grateful, and I have more than paid you all back with the outrageously taxes I pay on my salary. Oh well, I don't begrudge it - I just hope it goes to help the next girl who needs it like I did.

If anyone out there thinks that shame, shunning, poverty or anything else is going to stop babies from having babies, you are truly mad. The emotional reasons why I was in that situaton were very complex. I suppose society could have cut me off and I could be waiting tables out there somewhere, but what sense would that have made? Society made a good investment in me.

But whatever - let the assumptions resume!

Rabid

The rabid Hillary hatred blinds her critics to the possiblity that she was stressed out and actually got choked up for real.

Think about it - if she planned a stunt like that wouldn't you think it had a 50% chance of totally backfiring into a whole "weepy chick" meme? I sure wouldn't recommend it to a candidate in her position. Would you?

*puke*

If Camille is so concerned about contemptuous condescension, maybe she should stop spewing it in her writing.

Every two weeks

Have a cleaning service come every two weeks. If you use a firm like merry maids you can trust them to do it while you're at work. There is nothing on earth like coming home to a house that was cleaned while you were away, trust me. It's worth the money.

And I agree with the notion that your living arrangement hints that there is something fundamentally wrong with your relationship.

Hooray for Hillary

This Dem is grinning from ear-to-ear! Senator Clinton has spent a lifetime earning her way to this office, and she's going to make it! I can feel it in my bones and I'm so proud of her. So proud!

Thank you MusicRowDem

I didn't know that Obama had played that hateful song. I had to google it to see the lyrics and my jaw dropped - so he and his supporters are okay with "I got 99 problems but a bitch ain't one", ey? And you know if Hillary had played some racist song they would be all up in arms about "that awful woman".

Before I just didn't support him. Now I think he's a shithead.

Eff you Obama. You don't understand a thing about what it really means to be a Dem and are ten thousand miles from being a Progressive.

Born and Raised New Yorker here

And yeah, I was here for 9/11. I also just came from seeing Cloverfield. I thought it was a lot of fun! The monster was cool and the viral advertsing threw me off of the real story which made it fun x2.

Not everything is political or a statment. Sometimes a monster movie is just a fabluous fun monster movie.

Don't let the pretentious reviews throw you - it was worth seeing.

Only his fans

Obama didn't seem testy, but his fanbase sure is.

Quit

I think you should quit and only takes jobs where you are not entrusted with cash. And see a therapist asap.
