I don't think the WSJ is Murdoch's best asset. I think it hemorrhages cash and brings down the profitable, forward leaning divisions of Dow Jones. He's not gutting the paper - he's trying to find a way to keep it operational. I think a legit criticism is that he's making the Journal far more politcal than it was and that's not really the purpose of that paper. Of course, it's his dime so he can change the purpose if he wants. I wonder if it's a wise move tho.
The really interesting question is will he buy the dying New York Times? Word is he wants it badly. I am very curious to see what happens.
No kidding. The readers have told you endlessly that we are not interested in Paglia's vitrol (she defends rush for heaven's sake!), but apparently the clicks from drudge are worth too much money to ya. So I am out. I will read publications that value their readers. You will never see another letter from me or get my pageviews again. I hope other salon-ers will follow suit.
Where is Mother Jones? I'm going there.
