  • Has anyone but me even SEEN Surface?

After saving the life of the boy who rescued him, the baby creature got shot dead on the last show before the break. It was like Old Yeller.

If pathos isn't your dish then stay around for the marine biologist story line. She was trapped more than a mile down in a homemade submersible with the guy who saw his brother (who was snatched by one of the creatures and pulled down to the depths) outside, walking across the ocean floor as the creatures lay thousands of eggs.

X-Files meets Flipper meets [put your favorite tormented, misunderstood creature here].

I like the visuals, like the skiers who, boat and all, went down to the center of the earth through a whirlpool in Lake Travis in Austin.

The show started slow and seemed to be running third behind Invasion and Threshold. Then in the last five episodes it just took off and it has been tense, exciting, moving and scary.

I even put it third in my SPM behind Veronica and Lost. Check it out.

    Bones is pretty good too.

  • Having sex with a fat man is no different from having sex with a skinny man.

First you touch, then you touch harder, then you rub, lick and catch fire. Listen for his little sighs, little movements, the moment he goes completely still and do whatever you were doing again. Having had great sex with great guys weighing 127 lbs to way over 300, I can tell you the old clichés are true 1. It ain’t the meat; it’s the motion and 2. all cats are gray in the dark. Before you take that meditation break have another go – this time get the focus off yourself and onto (pun intended) him. Really setting yourself to please him may get your inner dialogue to shut up long enough for you to ignite. Nothing is sexier than making the man you dig come. If sex is the only problem you have with him be happy it’s fun problem to work on. What if he were an asshole? Like doglady.

Ann was the embodiment of everything good in Texas. Smart, funny, strong, opinionated, fair, she stood for the values many of us were taught by our elders as they went about the business of living. I've watched Texas descend into a deepening anti-intellectual, racist, right wing fog in the past years but it has been folks like Ann, Jim Hightower and Molly Ivins that have helped me remember there are still plenty of feisty, inclusive and wise people from here out there representing the Texas I love. She was outstanding and we’ll all miss her.

    Cary,

I love you for the last two answers you've given but the letters to the editor you get are either pendantic or so vitriolic they make me tired and sad.

  • Real inconvenient truths about Camille

[Read the article: Real inconvenient truths]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

    1. She's a pedantic, shallow, over-educated/under-thought egoist with a need to shock for attention

    2. She's as oppositional as a two year old, with about the same amount of self-control

    3. She's frequently wrong about the facts

    4. We read her to get pissed off, and it works

    She could BE Ann Coulter

    Maybe she is

  • It's MY choice

[Read the article: Too young to tie your tubes?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I had two unplanned pregnancies before I was 24, thank god abortion became legal the year of the first one. My third unplanned pregnancy was my daughter. I knew the moment I became a mom that one child was all I'd ever have enough patience and time for. I asked every gyn in my HMO to tie my tubes (a procedure then covered by my insurance, if you can imagine that) but got the same story. "you'll regret it, your too young, you'll change your mind" and my personal favorite: "what if your daughter dies?" It took a third abortion and my assurance to my gyn that there would be others, as I had a habit of conceiving at the drop of a hat, and that the future abortions would be at least as much his responsibility as mine that finally got him to agree. I was 32. Even if I regreted it (and I never did) it was STILL my choice and the ethics of the decision belonged to me, not him, not ever.

They refused to pull magazines that teach folks how to set up, breed, perform the 'sports' of dog and cock fighting, even though they are both illegal by federal law. I'm surprised at their concern, but again, they won't sell any of those pesky child porn mags either...

  • That picture is not of a "young woman"

[Read the article: Used women are like used cars?]
