That was bloody dreadful.
Here's hoping it doesn't influence anyone, as any influence would have to be for Clinton.
Please let me have those few minutes of my life back.
It's a well established truth of political theory that the effectiveness of governmental institutions is measured by the number of blogposts they generate. Had there been a functioning FEMA blog, the response to hurricane Katrina would have been vastly better. A decent blog at the DoD would have prevented the debacle of Iraq. The subprime mortgage meltdown is due in large measure to the absence of blogs at Treasury and Commerce.
Thank God for political visionaries like the Clintons! The era of big government is over, but the era of blog government will soon be with us. Rejoice, fortunate citizens!
I wonder if "The Pet Goat" figures prominently in his reading list. It helped turn W into a bona fide war hero.
but still pretty lame.
What's next, a death metal anthem for the guy?
I think I'm now embarrassed to be an Obama supporter.
We're eagerly waiting for the McCain entry to see if the current record for lamest campaign video stands. But the Clinton crowd has definitely set the standard. That was the lamest thing since Lame went to Lametown for the Lameolympics.
The great Sheldon Brown died on Feb. 3, 2008, not March 3.
Glenn, given the many ways in which you've documented the self-deception, arrogance, vapidity, and other failings of the liberal hawks, you can't honestly be surprised at this outcome, can you?
What do we have here?
Chubby, homely women who can neither sing nor dance slogging their way through a dreadful bit of pop music that's been re-tooled to sing the praises of a superannuated warmonger.
It's postively sublime.
There really is just nothing about this administration that isn't appalling. Even the old Soviet Union looks pretty good in comparison to this mess.
I tuned in for about three minutes, then saved the evening by watching hockey. Condolences to anyone who actually sat through that pitiful thing.
Although the lyric "The way you lay pipe is incredibly hot" was a definite low point.
Maybe it's just me, but that didn't work at all. The notion that Obama is some kind of post-political figure is simply not credible. And linking him to Reagan is just annoying.
Is there a golf/tennis version of the "Operation Puerto" that has hastened the exit of many cyclists?
It's beyond me how anyone can vote for a candidate who promises to fix everything wrong with the economy, but ignores the fact that so many people don't have puppies to play with. If McCain wants to be taken seriously, he's got to address the national puppy deficit.
Seems to me that Reid, Pelosi, Dean, et. al. have been described as working on some sort of endgame scenario at least since early March. Hard to see how this counts as really newsworthy, but I guess I've just gotten cynical.
I seem to remember Hillary taking Iowa for granted, spending lavishly on worthless pollsters and consultants, and generally running a campaign that could do next to nothing right. That might be an explanation for her failures.
There can be no doubt that sexism or gender stereotypes played a role in the campaign, too. But it's worth remembering that one of the most egregious examples of sexism was the "Hillary in the House" YouTube video that solemnly declared that "There's a great big mess in Washington, and we need a woman to clean it up." For those who can bear to watch, the link is below.

Sources say "the senators don't want to pound Hillary Clinton, and there is a sense she should be given a grace period."
I can't think of anyone who needs a pounding more than Hillary. And what's so terrible about having the contest wrapped up on Tuesday evening as opposed to Friday noon?
Considering Obama's problems with the Jewish vote in FL, I'm not sure this is gonna do him much good. Carter is anathema to a lot of otherwise Democrat leaning Jews in FL, largely because of his stance toward Israel. Time will tell if it makes any difference.
I apparently missed the point in the campaign where Hillary was mistreated.
Perhaps the war cheerleaders can come up with the money to by a few barrels of $120 oil and deep fry their president in some west Texas intermediate crude.
Gee, these folks don't know how to treat their liberators, do they? As a sovereign nation, do they really have any other option than to be a servile colony?
Not terrible, but on the whole a bit underwhelming. Biggest problem is that the ad fails to take advantage of McCain's famous "I know fuck all about economics, and I don't care" remark.
I realize there's not much to talk about between now and the big speech.
But even so, that struck me as a serious waste of bandwidth.
If McCain put Palin "a heartbeat away" from the presidency, isn't she already VP?
This elitist snob Cox is obviously a mole sent by Islamofascists to undermine the American economy. He poses a clear and present danger to the republic and must be removed. I'm sure there's a place for him at Gitmo.
But he won't be tortured. Americans don't torture.
Good news, but it doesn't really amount to a whole lot, imho.
As you say, the recent bounce is almost certainly due to the erratic behavior of McCain in the face of the financial markets' meltdown, along with the stunning ineptitude of Palin in her interviews. But these can easily be forgotten if something else big happens in the next month. Look for a very tight race to the end.
