How to disable a man with a styrofoam cup
[Read the article: Ask the pilot]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]It's really easy, place the bottom of your cup in the palm of your hand, then forcefully smack it against the ear of your victim. This will rupture the eardrum and cause immense pain, the victim will be as disabled as if you had shot or stabbed him.
Quick someone call the TSA!
I never liked styrofoam cups anyway. Time to get rid of them.
Next up, how to snap a man's neck with rolled up magazine...

@ caringtoo - you make my point
[Read the article: Ask the pilot]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]While missing mine.
Clearly you are suffering from Stockholm Syndrome.
Is there any order you would not obey? Any ridiculous security regime you could not rationalize?
I bet you are one of those people who says, "thank you for keeping us 'safe'"... while pulling down your pants.
Keep your papers ready. You'll need them.

@ Mike, Lunancy will never stop
[Read the article: Ask the pilot]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Sorry Mike, as I said in my earlier post, these measure have little to do with security and everything to do with social control.
Recently, here in Canada, (yes the infection has spread, we even have a no fly list) a Polish man became confused and wound up wandering around the arrival areas for hours. Eventually he went a little crazy and starting throwing things around. 4 RCMP arrived and tased him to death.
Our response? Oh well.
Killing people is actually very useful from the fascist point of view.

The flow of weapons to Iraq is "decreasing"?
[Read the article: The dangerous hostility game with Iran]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]So the flow of weapons is decreasing? Joe, I would be heartened by that fact, if I was aware of any evidence that there was a flow of weapons in the first place. Can you, unlike the Pentagon, actually give us something approaching evidence that the Iranians were providing arms to Iraqi insurgents? (not that there would be anything wrong with that from an Iraqi/Iranian/Middle Eastern POV)
Lies about WMD aside, someone has already pointed out the real purpose of an attack on Iran, and that is to manipulate the upcoming faux 'election'. If there is an attack, there will be massive retaliation, in Iraq, in the Lebanon, Israel, and quite possibly America itself. Iran has dozens of hypersonic ship-killer Mosquit and Silkworm missiles -- which your navy has no defence against, none. If there is an attack, and there will be, there is a strong likelihood that you will lose one of your obsolete carriers. The ensuing rage and fear will approach 9/11 levels - as they are counting on. Under those circumstances there are a number of possible scenarios: 1. Bush declares a national emergency under NSPD 51, and suspends the elections for the duration of the "emergency" or 2. The 'elections' will go on and McCain will be 'elected' because given the choice between a tough, experienced "war hero" and a limp wristed, bad bowler, and skinny dandy like Obama, terrified Americans will 'vote' for McCain in droves.
The idea that anyone in America is tiniest bit "afraid" of Iran is good evidence of just how low the level of national discourse in America has sunk. What's next, "credible evidence" that Canada will use it's 10 or so helicopters to attack the White House? Why not? Canada has the second largest proven oil reserves in the world, and after the Bushies and Likudniks have set the Middle East on fire, it may be your last best hope to keep the fleet of SUV's on the road. I know that this is a really silly scenario, there won't be any need for America to attack Canada for it's oil - Assistant Vice President Harper will just give it to you.
*note to Americans - Canada is that big white thing on the map where the cold fronts come from, and Harper is it's "Prime Minister" - that means "leader".
-
@ Diomedes - you are rational and intelligent
[Read the article: The dangerous hostility game with Iran]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The sanguinary demons that run your country are not. I agree with your analysis 100% -- an attack on Iran would be a disaster for the world.
But then I am sure that you made exactly the same analysis about the attack on Iraq... as did I, and I don't want to underestimate just how crazy and evil these bastards are again.
I think that the "plan" such as it is, is deeper and broader than simply Iran or even the war against Islam. Rather this attack is about China. China is the real enemy, the Keenisians know this -- all of the trend lines for China are up, whereas all the same trend lines for America are down. It is only by controlling the entire Middle East that America and Israel can hope to maintain global hegemony and avoid Chinese ascendancy. The only way to achieve this militarily will be the use of nuclear weaponry, shock and awe writ large. They think that they can do it, that's all that matters. Chtheny doesn't care, that's for sure...
In an interview with ABC's Good Morning America, when the White House correspondent said polls show that two-thirds of Americans believe the war is not worth fighting, Cheney responded with a 'so?'
When the shocked correspondent asked if he was not concerned about what the Americans think, Cheney flatly said 'No. I think you cannot be blown off course by the fluctuations in the public opinion polls.'
And finally, Cheney most certainly knows where Alberta is, even if Joe Hardhat does not.
