Democrats: Nuclear Iran unacceptableIran with nuclear weapons is unacceptable, new House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer told The Jerusalem Post hours after entering the party leadership position.
The Maryland Democrat said the view is shared by his party, rejecting assertions that the Democrats would be weaker than the Republicans on Iran.
He also said that the use of force against Teheran remained an option.
Hoyer, second only in the hierarchy of the House of Representatives to Speaker Nancy Pelosi, is charged with articulating and strategizing on party policy.

He is also a big fan of AIPAC.
Hoyer is a supporter of Israel, and has often been allied with AIPAC. In September 2007, he criticized Rep. Jim Moran for suggesting that AIPAC "has pushed (the Iraq) war from the beginning," calling the comment "factually inaccurate." Wiki
Larry Sinclair has a criminal record and failed a lie detector test! So?
Is it your position Alex that someone with a criminal record cannot or will not tell the truth - ever? This is a ridiculous and logically flawed position.
As for failing a lie detector test. If lie detectors actually worked (they don't) we could all save a lot of money by doing away with court system. If only life were that simple.
I don't believe Larry Sinclair, but I really don't have a good logical reason not to do so. Just as you don't have any proof that he is lying.
Someone said that Larry was in a mental institution at the time that the alleged "offense" was supposed to have happened. If this could be documented, that would be fatal to Sinclair's assertions. Failing a lie detector test, and having a record is completely meaningless in terms of determining the truth of Mr. Sinclair's assertions.
I'd still like to punch him in his ugly face though...
So Baloo, are you Iranian or American? If so your post should declare your bias; at least to your way of thinking.
Your dichotomy is false as well, Hooman could be a Canadian, a Brit, an Indian; in fact he could be a native of any country on the planet.
Even if Mr. Hooman is Iranian, logically this means nothing, his statements, like yours, like mine, should be evaluated on the quality of his argument.
I found his article well-balanced. He quoted all the players, he supported his assertions with facts -- which is more than you did.
Iran cannot be trusted? On what factual basis do you make that statement?
It's sad to see someone so worked up over a "problem" that on the scale of threats comes in near the bottom. The economy is in the tank, environmental catastrophe looms, there is an energy crisis, and about a billion people around the world are unable to afford food. The chance that possibly, maybe, someday, could, develop nuclear weapons, and then possibly, maybe, someday, use them, in an act of national suicide, on Israel.
You, and others like you, need to learn how to evaluate risk properly, you need to order the threats against your country and yourself in order and work on the most dire ones first. In America, is someone care about is going to blown up, torn to pieces, or burned alive, the most likely cause would be in a car accident, yet the obsession is with terrorism, and a small country on the other side of the planet.
This ordering of risk is the only rational course, and the only one that will produce good results for the country that you undoubtedly would claim to love. Hate and fear Iran all you like; your energies would be better spent elsewhere.
You said, "A journalist would have pointed out that the Reagan people made a deal with the Iranian HOSTAGE TAKERS to not release the U.S. Embassy HOSTAGES until after REAGAN was sworn in to improve his chances of being elected.
That was not merely appeasement, it was TREASON.
Journalsim has nothing to say about that."
Absolutely correct! Of course McCain (and perhaps Majd) is banking on the fact the the myth of what happened to the hostages is the now in the script and down the memory hole -- whereas the reality of the deal is now forgotten if was ever known.
And despite what I said earlier about it being a balanced article, Mr. Majd, and every other would be journalist everywhere, should absolutely pounce on McCain and his loathsome warmongering ilk, each and every time they spout the incorrect and deliberately mistranslated remark about "wiping Israel from the map". And while they are at it they should point out that both Hilary, and many other Americans have repeatedly, and in plain English, threatened to "obliterate" Iran -- no "mistranslation" possible.
Mike Malloy over at Nova M is covering this issue tonight and quoting from Glenn's posts extensively tonight.
For those of you who don't know Mike, I strongly recommend checking him out. He is online live, www.novamradio.com.
Glenn is great, but Mike likes to take these bastards out into the alley and slap them around. Logically of course.
Where the hell is Barack Obama on this? I am not impressed, not at all.
