Apple is Just Another Big Company, Nothing Special

[Read more letters about this article: Here]The only reason Apple's problems get into the news is because they have generated this very successful myth that they are somehow different. They are not. Like any other corporation, they seek to maximise profits by whatever means. If this means breaking phones, oh well.
I was involved in a class action against Apple back in 03 over the faulty logic boards in the iBook. Apple was shipping iBooks with faulty logic boards, boards which we alleged they knew were faulty. Up until the time of our proposed class action, they would tell people whose iBooks had failed that it was the first they heard of it, and then would offer to fix it if it was under warranty. My iBook failed two weeks outside of warranty due to the now notorious logic board failure and they refused to fix it. I contacted some people and we started a petition, some web sites and told everyone who would listen about the problem, and began work on a class action. I also recorded me telling an Apple rep about the problem and posted the conversation on my web site, so they could no longer tell people, "Oh, really? Your logic board failed? Wow! That's unusual! We never heard of that before!"
It worked, a couple of months later, and much bad publicity, Apple called me and told me that they were issuing a worldwide 3 year warranty extension on the affected iBooks - including mine.
Unfortunately it died again - for the last time a year later. Cause? Logic board failure. They had replaced a faulty logic board with a faulty logic board. I bought an emachine at tigerdirect for about the same price, it's still working. And guess what it was faster and better in every way, even though it did not have an Apple on it!
Now that was a law suit you could stand behind, and thousands of people did! Unfortunately the arrogance of Apple and Steve Jobs is undiminished. The sad thing is the fanboys who still defend them - no matter what.

So Hitler was bad, but Dr. Ahmadinejad is worse because he will have the bomb? If he gets it, and if he wants to commit personal and national suicide by using it.
PARIS (EJP)---The head of CRIF, the umbrella group of French Jewish organisations, has called on political leaders to adopt a “tough stance” towards Iran.
During a meeting in Paris Tuesday night to debate the Iranian nuclear threat, Roger Cukierman compared the Iranian president to Hitler.
“Today, a new Hitler is born. His name is Ahmadinejad,” Cukiermans said. “At the Shoah Memorial you can see and hear Goebbels, Ribbentrop and Hitler express the same hatred, the same fantasies, the same slanders than Ahmadinejad in Tehran.”
“Ahmadinejad is the new Hitler but there is a difference between them: Ahmadinejad is about to get the atomic bomb within 18 months or two years,” he added, to great applause.

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich says that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is as big a threat to global security as Adolf Hitler was in the 1930's - and he's urging President Bush to do everything possible to overthrow his regime.
"This is 1935 and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is as close to Adolf Hitler as we’ve seen," Gingrich tells Human Events. "We now know who they are," he added. "The question is who we are -- are we Baldwin or Churchill?" - referring to the two British leaders at the time who disagreed over Hitler's intentions.
Like the top Nazi, Ahmadinejad has openly urged the extermination of the Jews, saying in October that Israel should be "wiped off the map." In recent weeks the Iranian madman has also repeated questioned historical reports on the Holocaust, claiming they were likely exaggerated.
He goes on to say, "I will just say flatly, our objective should be the systematic replacement of this regime," the former top House Republican told Human Events.
I dunno Newt sounds a little bit like Hitler to me... Remember Hitlet claimed his invasion of Poland was in self-defense.

Shimon Peres, has compared an Iranian nuclear bomb to a “flying concentration camp.”
And surely they must take issue with Olmert who told a German newspaper last year: “[Ahmadinejad] speaks as Hitler did in his time of the extermination of the entire Jewish nation.”
There are 25,000 Jews in Iran. If Ahmadinejad hates "Jews" so much why hasn't he killed them?

[Read more letters about this article: Here]To the ADL - the whole Hitler metaphor is already cheapened beyond recognition and it happened on your watch, and the cheapening was done by your "friends". The "worse than Hitler epithet" is nothing new, conservatives have been doing it for years with the full cognizance of the ADL. Shrub 41 compared Saddam to Hitler, and over the years so were many other people. None of them were. I don't recall the ADL attacking bush 41 on that either!
Times change however, and if shrub jr. succeeds in attacking Iran, he may just trigger WWIII, killing billions, which would actually make him "worse than Hitler". Much worse - certainly stupider.
Why doesn't anyone ever say worse than Ghenghis Khan? Or worse the Europeans and later Americans who annihilated millions of aboriginals? (it's a mouthful I know, but hey, you could try?)
