So let me get this straight. Bin Laden blew up the world trade center, the US accused of him the very same day, and also the same day, the howl for blood went up. But somehow it never occurred to Bin Laden and the Taleban that George Bush, nice kind man that he is, would not attack them. This, despite hourly speculation on which countries should be destroyed in the media in the weeks leading up to the attack. Note: Afghanistan was always pretty much near the top of the list, if not the top.
And yes, I do recall that Bin Laden was wanted for previous attacks, but at the time the United States was not in the habit of invading and occupying countries for criminal acts.
Shocked I say! There is no evidence to your allegation that the OGA (other government agency) aka the CIA, has ever trafficked in narcotics!
Well, maybe there is some evidence... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CIA_drug_trafficking
Poor Gary Webb. They fixed him.
That's just cheapjack, inside the beltway, corruption, it's the new normal. Lobbyists have doubled in number since the bush junta took power. Even talking about it is a distraction from the real issue.
And what is that issue? McCain wants yet another war, another front. Is this where America should go?
McCain is either insane or stupid. Either way he is bad for America; and worse for the rest of the world.
Seriously. I did not forget them, but they had slipped my mind. You are correct of course, many people have posted the list of US "interventions" since WWII, and it is a very long and shameful list.
If you read my posts over the last year or so, you will see that I am not an apologist for America, far from it. But I do strive, however imperfectly, to be fair.
You are correct. On reflection, you might want to add the shelling of Beirut by the battleship New Jersey, after the attack on the marines in 1983.
You have correctly identified the single most common, and utterly fallacious, 'argument' made on the right.
How many times? A million, a billion, have we heard some right wing lamer doing exactly that? Clinton did this, Clinton did that?
So what? Clinton could have eaten babies as a steady diet, his behavior, or yours, or mine, is completely irrelevant to any argument on the actions of a third party. Why don't people know this?
There is a good reason that they don't teach logic from grade 1 on, it's makes for a very dangerous (to the oligarchy) citizenry.
I see tu quoque arguments every day, right here in Glenn's (a master logician) backyard.
This same kind of silly, dangerous tu quoque "logic" is invariably invoked for the purposes of 'justifying' torture. "They" cut off Berg's head (never mind that he wasn't exactly using it at the time, wandering around a war zone), "they" torture us, "they" jump off bridges....
Some of these people really should listen to their mothers.
