Sorry but the Saints took a pass on this one, I am still holding out for an impeachment. Yes, I know it will never happen.
If McCain wins (unlikely) will Bush really be gone? Only in body.
And if Americans do vote for Obama, then in some very real sense they are repudiating the Bush legacy.
You do know that once he is gone, there will be a huge movement to have him indicted in the Hague? Again, it will never happen, but we must try.
I think that there certainly are "remedies". I am not aware of any kind of immunity conferred on former presidents or VP's.
After they leave office Bush and his gang can, and should be, indicted. Of course it would have to come from Obama's Justice Department which is extremely unlikely. I remember that Clinton said when he took office that there would be no investigations of Bush 41. I can see why this happens, any president, as I have discussed in some of my earlier posts, commits acts that someone, somewhere, considers criminal. Clinton was probably worried about establishing a precedent. If had gone after Daddy -- sure as shooting Junior would have gone after him.
The Hague is another matter. I remember Louise Arbour was asked about American war crimes in Bosnia. Her reply was to the effect that if there was reliable evidence presented to her, she would prosecute - and she would have. 3 days later she was appointed Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada. Just a coincidence I am sure.
Lousie Arbour is one formidable lady...
In 1996, she was appointed Chief Prosecutor of War Crimes before the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda and the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia in The Hague. In that capacity she indicted then President Slobodan Milošević for war crimes, the first time a serving head of State was called to account before an international court. Also indicted were Milan Milutinović, President of the Republic of Serbia, Nikola Šainović, Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Dragoljub Ojdanić, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, and Vlajko Stojiljković, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Serbia. - Wiki
If a Serbian president can be indicted, then so can Bush. I don't expect the Obama would be allowed to give him up though. We can dream.
War crimes aside, I would like to see Bush and his gang prosecuted for their complete failure to protect America on September 11, 2001, and for their later failure to actually do anything about it, other than to kill 1.2 million Iraqis. The 911 thing would have more legs than the Iraqi invasion and occupation for obvious reasons.
Fuck him, someone should punch him in his goddamn mouth! LOL
But we have several here, DCLaw could give you a professional opinion. I would like to hear from Glenn on this issue.
As for possible crimes, there are many, illegal wiretapping comes to mind.
