@ William T- Thank you very much for the clarification

I haven't been here as long as you, so was unaware of the history. I agree with you about the vicious cycles that can occur here and can appreciate how it predictably goes round and round with no end.

I like you and appreciate your erudition and perspective. I even enjoy your Latinate phraseology (from memory apparently) - even if it does send me scurrying to the gooracle for a translation!

In my way I was trying to make a larger point about man's inhumanity and all that... I know it's an old and well made point, and has, perhaps, been reduced over time to banality.

Still though, it is painful to watch. I hope for better. Here at least.

Ad lucem!

Bill

The Anti-Limbaugh, Mike Malloy!

There is an antidote for Rush Limbaugh! Tell your friends. Call your mother! His name is Mike Malloy, and you can hear him at the Nova M network.

http://www.novamradio.com/

Mike is absolutely fearless, is highly intelligent and has excellent analytical skills. He also has a mouth. And I mean that in a good way. Mike hates Rush, calls him "the pig man" and often says that when the "lights go out, I just want 5 minutes alone with him." His tag line is, "Have I mentioned tonight, just how much I hate these people?" His phrase for the attack dogs of the Republican slime machine is the "flying monkey right", a wonderful and apt metaphor for those people.

Unlike the hateful swine that populate the right wing blogosphere and noise machine, Mike approaches the issues from a Liberal viewpoint and with compassion. Mike was named one of the 20 most dangerous Liberals in America by FOX 'News'. Good for him!

I believe that Mike once interviewed Glenn, although I missed that show. Mike is on Monday to Friday at 9PM EST, replayed on Sunday also at 9.

@ LWM Rough Men

There is another infamous misquotation. When Bush was sworn in and was asked, do you swear to uphold and protect the constitution? He replied, "I do."

Actually buhs said, "Screw you!" LOL

@ WT, Aych - a proposed solution to the tinyurl problem

Yes, William I have the same objection, I don't like to walk into a room if'n I don't know whats inside. The solution is simple though. Simply say something like: Link to SLIME magazine story on Hilary's cake baking skills: www.tinyurl.com/342234

@ Klooster, The LA TIMES?

I can go with Olbermann - up to a point, Bill Maher is okay, but way off "base" on many issues, and Jon Stewart is great. But Bill Moyers (and the whole NPR/PBS gang) are way way too soft, and at times actually co-opted by oligarchy. The NY Times was and is part of the war machine, just like the Washington Post, and the execrable LA Times. The Boston Globe I don't read that much so have no opinion.

Besides the question is how to take on the pig man limbaugh and his fellow attack dogs. A well reasoned opinion piece is no antidote to demagoguery! Saying, "I disagree sir", is no counter to nazis and fascists. You need a shovel, and you need to smack them in the face with it.

If you want to read a liberal newspaper, check out the Toronto Star... http://www.thestar.com/news/world

And don't forget the great Malloy! www.novamradio.com

@ thelastnamechosen tinyurl

I agree that Salon needs to fix the wrap problem, but if tinyurl may go out of business, so may Salon, as they almost have in the past.

As far a I am concerned these posts are transitory and ephemeral anyway. If a tinyurl link stays up for a few months then I am happy. When was the last time anyone went back and read Glenn or anyone from 2 years ago?

And besides, you are wrong, I design web sites inter alia, and I can tell you that a link to a newspaper or blog is MUCH more transitory than a link to tinyurl. They often break.

Aside from that multi-line URL's on a post are ugly and distracting.

And finally, you can call Aych or anyone here an "idiot" if you like, but you will find few "idiots" here, and most certainly Aych is not one of them. But he can, and probably will, speak for himself.

@ Little brother - Thanks

Tonight when I go to bed, I will pray to God to help me get that image out of my head.

Another thing that can't be said on television

Anything, anything at all, that sounds even remotely like, "9/11 was the chickens coming home to roost".

That's the biggest taboo of all. Second only to, "George Bush is liar."

Glenn says, "The American media has a script to which they loyally adhere."

This is true. So true in fact that it cannot be seriously disputed. A little light shows through the cracks here and there, but overall, Glenn is correct.

This demands the question, "Who writes that script?"
