There are many cases where prosecutors have fought the efforts of those who want to help the wrongfully convicted.
They do this for the basest of reasons, they want to cover their own wrongdoing.
There is an old saying in British Jurisprudence, The Crown never loses when justice is served. Which means that no matter what the outcome, guilty or innocent, if it's just, then the Crown/DA has "won". But it's not like that. Justice in America is played more like a baseball game. This clueless, amoral monster; who is passing herself off an agent of justice -- is only concerned with her batting average, not guilt or innocence -- and she is not alone.
There have been many wrongfully convicted persons, it happens, thank God for DNA!
There have been 245 post-conviction DNA exonerations in the United States.• The first DNA exoneration took place in 1989. Exonerations have been won in 34 states; since 2000, there have been 179 exonerations.
• 17 of the 245 people exonerated through DNA served time on death row.
• The average length of time served by exonerees is 12 years. The total number of years served is approximately 3,096.
• The average age of exonerees at the time of their wrongful convictions was 26.
Races of the 245 exonerees:
146 African Americans
71 Caucasians
21 Latinos
2 Asian American
5 whose race is unknown
• The true suspects and/or perpetrators have been identified in 104 of the DNA exoneration cases.

How can an absolute monarch "stand up for greater freedom of the press."?
That's silly. Abdullah can do anything he wants. Saudi Arabia is one of the dark places of the world, and it is that way because of the House of Saud. They are NOT the way forward.
The only reason this asshole did anything, as the authour said, is for PR reasons, NOT because he is seeing the light.
And yeah, if I was in Saudi, I would get 500 lashes for saying that. Great "ally" you have there America. How's that working out for you?
What fuels this madness? Where do all the criminals come from? From the WOD, the stupid war on drugs. If they can make marijuana illegal, they can make anything illegal.
If you look at males aged 25-29 and by race, you can see what is going on even clearer, June 30, 2006:* For White males ages 25-29: 1,685 per 100,000.
* For Latino males ages 25-29: 3,912 per 100,000.
* For Black males ages 25-29: 11,695 per 100,000.
(That's 11.7% of Black men in their late 20s.)
Or you can make some international comparisons:
South Africa under Apartheid was internationally condemned as a racist society.
* South Africa under apartheid (1993), Black males: 851 per 100,000
* U.S. under George Bush (2006), Black males: 4,789 per 100,000
What does it mean that the leader of the "free world" locks up its Black males at a rate 5.8 times higher than the most openly racist country in the world?
Statistics as of June 30, 2006 from Prison and Jail Inmates at Midyear 2006, Table 14. The "rates by race" statistics are calculated from the component parts of Table 14. South Africa figures from Marc Mauer, Americans Behind Bars: The International Use of Incarceration. All references to Blacks and Whites are for what the Bureau of Justice Statistics and U.S. Census refer to as "non-Hispanic Blacks" and "non-Hispanic Whites".)
There is a Prison Industrial Complex; it's huge, it's active, it's worth billions, and it's looking for kids smoking dope. Maybe yours.
You could not be more wrong.
The Prison-Industrial Complex
by Eric Schlosser
Correctional officials see danger in prison overcrowding. Others see opportunity. The nearly two million Americans behind bars—the majority of them nonviolent offenders—mean jobs for depressed regions and windfalls for profiteers

The term prison-industrial complex refers to all of the businesses and organizations involved in the construction, operation, and promotion of correctional facilities and the services they provide. Such groups include private corrections companies, corporations that contract prison labor, construction companies, surveillance technology vendors, and the lobbyists and interest groups that plurally represent them.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prison-industrial_complex
The term often implies a network of actors who are motivated by making profit rather than solely by punishing or rehabilitating criminals or reducing crime rates. Proponents of this view believe that the desire for monetary gain has led to the growth of the prison industry and the number of incarcerated individuals. These views are often shared by people who fear or condemn excessive use of power by government, particularly when related to law enforcement and military affairs.
Guided Missile ComponentsThe Patriot missile is the world's most advanced ground-to-air defense system, and is designed to defeat advanced targets, including aircraft, tactical ballistic missiles and cruise missiles. UNICOR/FPI has successfully implemented surged production to supply electronics and electrical components for Patriot Advanced Capability (PAC-3) missile propulsion, guidance and targeting systems.
We also are an important supplier of wire harnesses and cable assemblies for virtually all ordnance. This equipment is produced to rigorous military standards to perform flawlessly despite being subjected to long storage, vibration, shock, and broad swings in temperature, humidity, altitude and pressure.
Many of our electrical and electronic components are used in guided missile seekers, aptly named for their ability to seek and destroy hostile aircraft or incoming missiles. In addition, we manufacture and distribute electronics for missile launchers, propulsion systems, antenna mast groups, guidance processors and warhead detonation.
