The word gets tossed around a lot, usually by dickheads... (with apologies to real dick heads)

School shootings, unless by Al Qaida or the IRA, are not "terrorism" anononut.

Here is your own gov's definition...

No one definition of terrorism has gained universal acceptance. For the purposes of this report, however, we have chosen the definition of terrorism contained in Title 22 of the United States Code, Section 2656f(d). That statute contains the following definitions:

The term "terrorism" means premeditated, politically motivated violence perpetrated against noncombatant (1) targets by subnational groups or clandestine agents, usually intended to influence an audience.

The term "international terrorism" means terrorism involving citizens or the territory of more than one country.

The term "terrorist group" means any group practicing, or that has significant subgroups that practice, international terrorism.

The U.S. Government has employed this definition of terrorism for statistical and analytical purposes since 1983.

    What was Cho's political agenda?

Hmm, I think you answered your own question...

"I am asking why, if this system exists, it did not pick up on a couple of people who wanted to kill Americans?" - excellent question!

"Is the system designed so that it will only catch people of the Islamic faith?" - Yes!

The "war" such as it is, is not designed to stop "terrorism". If it was America would withdraw from Iraq. I am not sure that the war, as such is even against Islam or even radical Islam.

I am pretty sure that if the West's oil was almost exclusively under the ground in Buddhist countries, we'd probably be on the hunt for that worst of evil monsters, the Dalai Lama.

He is already pretty much a "terrorist" to the Chinese...

Shrub could care less about school shootings. What's that got to do with the price of oil - or Israel?

I posted earlier on this with some interesting links, have a look if you are interested.

The anthrax used in the second attack on Daschle and Leahy was a weaponized version of the Ames strain, a type of Anthrax found in the United States in 1981 and later "weaponized" ie ground into nano particles and then coated with Bentonite (kitty litter believe or not) so that each particle with be electrolytically repelled from each other so they disperse at the slightest breeze while separating into individual spores. A single gram of powdered anthrax can contain as many as a hundred billion anthrax spores.

Conventional medical wisdom holds that inhalation of just eight to ten thousand spores is needed to trigger infection. The letter sent to Daschle had 2 grams, enough, if properly distributed, to kill 2 million people. That strain, and that process, is precisely what they do at the Lawrence Livermore weapons lab.

Now the samples sent to the Democrat Senators, those traitorous, terrorist loving, against the PATRIOT Act Senators, was genetically matched to the Ames strain, it was the Ames Strain, no question.

So how did a substance like that, which needless to say in almost unbelievably dangerous to handle, and requires special equipment to do so, make it's way from one of the most secure weapons labs in America and into the hands of a "terrorist"?

Good question isn't? And the choice of targets? As Sargent Schultz used to say,"Veeeeery interesting!"

Yes, it was Arte Johnson for sure. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIfbCCtWr5I

Sargent Shultz was famous for his "I see no,hink, I know nothink".

Kind of like Sgt. Michael Mukasey... "I see nothink, President Bush!"

Artie was great, but Schultz was great! Hogan's Heros was a classic. It's hard to believe but Robert Clary, Lebeau was actually a survivor of Buchenwald, he was there as a child.

    He is still alive.

I know Hogan is gone, murdered, Klink too, Schultz was gone a long time ago,Newkirk/Dawson is still kicking, Carter went in 03, I remember Helga married Hogan/Crane in real life...

Anyone wants to read about the rest I found this... all off topic sorry, couldn't resist... I used to love Hogan's Heroes!

You might be right, I do have a memory of that, that's why I posted. If you find anything let us know. I watched a couple of clips on youtube. I don't think I have seen it since some reruns in the 70's. It's still good. The show started in 65 just 20 years after the war, so I am sure that it must have been a "very interesting" show for the vets. What's interesting for me is how sympathetically the Germans, the old enemy, were portrayed.

The Vietnam conflict is farther away in history for us than WWII was for them!

I wonder if we can be as sympathetic to Bush and the Republicans in 20 years?
