Seattle has an NFL Team.
So Elephantman, why shouldn't people who broke the law be prosecuted? When they weren't prosecuted after Irangate, some of these same people came back 20 years later to do even more harm.
Oh, and Xrandu, Limbaugh wasn't included in the dinner for conservative journalists, only print journalists, not howling radio hosts.
My least favorite new word. Let's ban it.
I am sitting in a window seat and a couple approaches to sit next to me, usually a large man and a smaller woman. The man, being gallant I suppose, takes the middle seat letting the woman have the aisle seat. That way the man and I both end up being squished next to each other. Please, couples, put the smaller one in the middle and make it easier on all of us.
Last year I took 2 separate trips to Central America, once to Costa Rica and another to Roatan, Honduras. On both return trips we went through security, making sure we didn't have water bottles. Then while at the gate we were allowed to purchase water and other drinks. But the crazy thing is that they then had another security check of our carry-on bags before we could board the plane and they took away the bottles we had just purchased. I have no idea why they did this, especially since nobody mentioned this when we purchased the liquids. It made absolutely no sense to me.
How about talking about the effort to keep the Supersonics in Seattle? It's rather an exciting legal battle and full of implications for cities everywhere. Are we really going to let the NBA and some rightwing billionaires from Oklahoma steal a team that has been a very successful franchise for 41 years?
First of all, Jimmy, what do you mean telling us there is a a rule about what ages we can date? There is no rule, but even if there was, your math is all wrong anyway. In 7 years you forget the author would also be 7 years older making him 48, which would mean he would have to wait another 4 years...But wait, then he would be older again.
So do you really want this guy to have to wait forever to date his babysitter? Totally ridiculous! People all grow at different rates, and as long as they are both adults it should be none of your business.
Hey Patrick:
After reading your column I feel bad that I didn't write to tell you that I understand your points about why pilots don't want to take their passengers back to the gate. I have been stuck on a plane in Detroit several times during snow storms, and believe me it was miserable. But still it is usually better to maintain your place in line for take-off. Airlines could certainly handle the situation better by handing out free drinks. Instead what usually happens is that the crew disappears not wanting to deal with the outraged passengers.
I also feel badly about the wages you have earned, not very much unfortunately. I hope you have another job, as I am sure you can't live on your columnist's pay.
I have a couple of observations. I think airports have made a large mistake by not ever using the wheel-up ladders anymore. It takes forever to disembark from a flight, especially if you are stuck in the back. I just love it when I fly overseas and they disembark (and embark) from both front and back doors. it's crazy that they don't even have that option at most American airports anymore.
Also, it seems to me that the crew tends to be very paranoid about passenger rage. I have seen flight attendants overreact to simple requests from passengers. I think this kind of behavior makes the passengers angry if they weren't before.
Good luck. I hope you get a job soon!

I'm kind of disappointed in Tara Reid. Did she really want to get in that club so badly
that she would put up with that kind of treatment? She should have told them to fuck off and gone someplace else.
Thanks for letting me know about the list. I have written to Bill and asked him to be sure to put my blog on the list, too!

Sounds like a fascinating book, and a well-deserved indictment of those who believe in ECT. In my mind it is not any better than lobotomies and deserves to be relegated to the annals of bad psychiatry. I once worked in a psychiatric hospital, the same one that "treated" Francis Flowers many years before. I told myself then that if I ever had a mental illness I would still never be crazy enough to let myself be committed to a mental hospital.
