The article stinks from the title
[Read the article: The ballad of Ramos and Compean]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]All you need is "anti-immigrant right" and you'll know what to expect: fallacies and propaganda. The word "right" serves as a stand-in for Evil and anti-immigrant is a deliberate falsification, simplification, concocted by a demagog.
Clearly, the "right", "Right", whatever, or the portion of it that is relevant here, is not speaking up against immigrants, but against the process of illegal immigration. Calling them anti-immigrant is a lie.
Anti-immigrant is also a code word for "racist", and calling someone racist is the the last refuge of the intellectual scoundrel.

very nice idea, now here's one for the guys: the Schwarzenegger Cherry Popper
[Read the article: The Hillary Clinton Nutcracker]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Or the Bill Clinton dildo - a soft silicone dong shaped and colored like a big fat Paul Garmirian stogie, the deluxe version is scented like a real cigar, the connoisseur version is scented too.

Yup, it's time to pandering to Jesus, democrats!
[Read the article: So long, white boy]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Jesus is your next door neighbor, speaks good English but listens to bad Mexican music day after day, month after month, blaring from loudspeakers in his back yard. He expects you to respect "his music" when you try to remind him that the fence is not a sound barrier. His chihuahua lives in the backyard 24/7, gets no attention from anyone in the house and therefore barks all the time, sometimes 2 in the morning, probly because it is hungry and wants his Dieta Cientifica.
Jesus has innumerable freinds, family members, acquaintainces and business partners who come and go all the time, keeping the house packed as if life were an unending celebration of Sinko de Myo. They are genetically weak eared and MUST yell everything they say.
The house gets visited by teenagers from time to time who play even louder Mexican music, the Mexican rap variety, which is "sung" in some version of Spanglish, making phrases like "fucking gringo" clearly recognizable.
Jesus is a citizen but many of his friends, etc, are not, but why should they be, they consider Cali, NM and Arizona to be part of Mexico anyway and of THAT COUNTRY they are citizens already. They laugh at the naive gringos who think they can hardly wait to get "out of the shadows" and join the citizenry of the US - they are La Raza and there is no need to be American citizens when America will go away.
¡Vaya con Jesus, Los Demócratas!

Reasoned article upsets the true believers
[Read the article: Stop your sobbing]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]This great article immediately reminded me of one of the most useful pieces of writing I have ever encountered on the Net, Dr Lees-Haley's Propaganda Techniques Related to Enviromental Scares on Quackwatch.org. It was pubished in 1998 but it is more relevant than ever. The link is slash 01QuackeryRelatedTopics slash propa dot html, read an learn. While you are there peruse the sight if you dare, librul, but beware of the painful cognitive dissonance.
I'm sorry for posting the link this way, I don't seem to have a signature in which I can post links.
Aside from the article being enlightening and correct, the responses it has evoked are also quite enjoyable to read. Oh the self-righteous indignation of the first responder, Eric, who exhorted us: Gore offered solutions! Seems the debate is over then for Eric. Or Joe Bergeron, for whom rational thinking is right wing. Presumably then, irrational thinking is left wing - I will not argue with that. As an example, we can skip to page 30 of the letters where E Pluribus confirms my presumtion thusly:
"[the author is] over-intelectualizing a subject that should be addressed with a much greater sense of morality, duty, and compassion. If we can't be compassionate, if we can't behave morally toward all life, then what is there to celebrate?"
Perhaps another Salon author may write a treatise on the hopeless fatuity of this and similar statements, here my space is limited.

I dunno what's sadder: that such events are staged or that people actually watch them
[Read the article: What you missed while watching "Oprah"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The highly esteemed librul posters are right like the stopped clock: those were a bunch of liars on the formerly-silver creen.
But the same posters will change tune and engage in serious discussion of who said what when THEIR liars start blathering in the limelight.
They all subscribe to the Nixonian principle of "he's a goddamn sonovabitch but he is MY goodamn sonovabitch".
When lobbyists have a televised debate about who should give how much to which politician, I'll start watching.

What did Sen Ken know and when did he know it?
[Read the article: We must ban secretive U.S. torture]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Why now?
Why was the senescent senile senior senator nor protesting Evilusa torturing Goodterrorists and similar Nicehostilepersons during, say, former administrations?
It was not happening? Has Evilbush introduced torture into the MO of USMil? Or maybe it is that Sen Ken has been in the Senate for the better part of the past geologic age but only now, mysteriously, he is awakening to the horrible truth?
If so, where was he during all those millennia? What was he doing aside from slowly petrifying and lignifying and ossifying and self-fixating in concentrated spirits?
What?
... locust poops? ... hocus hoops? ... louder, please! ... bogus coops? ... LOUDER!!!!!

Dear Epluribus
[Read the article: Stop your sobbing]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]No, I did not accidentally misspell librul.
And I did not have to look up the definition of fatuity, I have read enough stuff uttered by Tony Blair to know the meaning of the word well.
So I went and read some of your other postings and let me remind you of what you wrote about the mythology of the Western.
Environmentalism, as a mass movement of our age, is also based on a similar mythologizing process.
The difference is that the mythology of the Western is fairly harmless, while that of environmentalism is much more sinister, having incorporated the IDEOLOGY of socialism with unavoidable consequences such as censorship, mass-think, coercion or the excommunication of the infidel.
Think about it. (Liberally, of course)
