A Rare Glimpse Into the Real Anti-Aborton Mindset
[Read the article: Undercover attack on Planned Parenthood]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]What an extraordinary and revealing look behind the elaborate rhetorical justifications of the anti-abortion movement, with its lofty focus on the sanctity of human life in all its forms and at every stage of development. While there is undoubtedly a miniscule portion of the anti-abortion movement driven by such lofty theological notions, equally evident is that the vast majority embraces the rationale outlined by Anonymous.
Mizmoon is right, of course; the most salient indication that this is nothing but propaganda is Anonymous’s sneering reference to “femlibbers.” Even more revealing, though, is a closer look at his (his? An assumption, yes, but one in which the alternative is virtually unimaginable) jeremiad against the scourge of predator/kidnapper/statutory rapists.
We need to stop kidnappers, not make it easier for them. And what are the numbers of girls being kidnapped and then being forced to get an abortion?
Hmmm, the number of girls kidnapped and forced to get an abortion? Probably rather substantial, if we’re talking about episodes of 7th Heaven or the imagination of the writers of the Left Behind series. Probably quite close to zero, on the other hand, if we’re talking about the planet Earth.
I really and truly don't see any reason why 15 year old girls cannot understand that if they fuck a 23 year old even with consent and get pregnant than their life may become more difficult. . . .Would you let them drive and get into an accident and not charge them?
Ahhh, and there we have it; a rare glimpse into the quintessential motivation of the anti-abortion movement. To wit: Woman must never be allowed to fuck whom they want with impunity! With all the hand wringing about these poor young maidens being victimized by “their statutory rapists,” the real concern is that said girls could have sex without “consequences” (of which abortion is insufficiently punitive, of course; said consequences must include carrying to term a child for whom the mother is either unable or unwilling to care). And if a young girl victimized by a statutory rapist is to be compelled to bear the consequences, how much more so a mature woman whose pregnancy is the result of a legally consensual relationship?
What is the appropriate response to insure that these girls’ lives become “more difficult” as a result of these relationships? Why that’s easy: criminalize them! After all, Would you let them drive and get into an accident and not charge them? Of course not. Likewise, maybe in general statutory rapists will not statutory rape if they know their statutory rape will send them to jail.
Plainly, what’s needed are more cops, more courts, more prosecutors, more investigators, all to make sure that the consequences for women engaging in unapproved sexual relationships are harsh enough to teach the sluts a lesson. Such policies are like a Republican dream come true.

This isn't to OUR discredit
[Read the article: The administration's FISA falsehoods continue unabated]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Though, as always, a generally trenchant and comprehensive analysis, I'd strongly dispute the assertion that it "really is to our great discredit that we have acquiesced to this level of presidential deceit." No, it is by no means to our discredit; it is a discredit to the Eunuchs (f.k.a. the Democratic Party) in Congress. Let's assume momentarily that the Eunuchs aren't themselves utterly craven, and that they actually give a shit about protecting the country's fundamental democratic values from the clutches of a proto-fascist Republican Party. Then naturally, when a petulant imbecile pulls out his dick and pisses all over your head, the appropriate response isn't to excoriate him, or demonize him, or humiliate him, or kick his fucking teeth down his throat; instead, it's to declare in unison, "Gee, what funny looking rain we're having today." After all, you certainly wouldn't want to take the radical step of provoking a “constitutional crisis,” or anything comparably irresponsible. Of course, there are some of us who recognize that the "crisis" was precipitated as soon as Bush began using the Constitution to wipe his ass over the past seven years, and sure as hell isn't avoided by now ignoring the shit stains all over it.

The Inevitable Response From the Eunuch Party (f.k.a. the Democrats)
[Read the article: "I stand by Al Gonzales"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Here's a paraphrase of what we'll inevitably get in response from the Eunuch Party (f.k.a. the Democrats):
"With all due respect, Mr. President, we can't toally agree with that assessement. When Attorney General Gonzales sat smirking during his Congressional testimony and essentially told us to go fuck ourselves, it made us believe that perhaps he did do something wrong. We don't want to go fuck ourselves, so we'd greatly appreciate it if you could please compromise with us. Do you think you could see your way to let Karl Rove and Harriet Miers testify about this matter too (under such circumstances, of course, as don't inconvenience them too much)? If that isn't completely agreeable to you, Mr. President, rest assured that we will quickly back down from this "demand" and immediately accede to whatever imperious demands and conditions you place on such testimony. We sure do appreciate this type of bipartisan coooperation; after all, we're all on the same side, aren't we?

Nope, No Hypocrisy For Senator Macacawitz
[Read the article: George Allen, pundit]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Yup, not a hint of inconsistency, hypocrisy, or flip-flopping from a real conservative like George Allen; he's displayed a sneering contempt for porch monkeys from the word go, and sees no reason whatever to change his tune now. Nor, of course, is it the least bit surprising that Senator Macacawitz finds nigger-hatred (much less anti-Semitism) completely "irrelevant" to the ability to serve as President of the United States; indeed, it's clear that the good old "Republican base" that voted for him regards it as a profoundly laudatory character trait.
Nonetheless, there's no reason the rest of humanity ought to go along with his self-serving crap, and every time he has the balls to stick his snout out of his hole for the rest of his life, he should be asked, "When - and why - did you decide to stop calling black people niggers?"
