High incidence of mental illness in Salon readership
[Read the article: I'm mentally ill but I'm no mass killer]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Does anyone else think there seems to be an inordinately high amount of mental illness among these letter writers and their families? Is it just because this topic is of interest to them or is it because there are more mentally ill people than I realize?

another reason
[Read the article: From tennis pro to working at home]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I think another reason women tennis pros (and golfers) quit aside from injury is because it's really hard to have a serious relationship or marriage. Men players have wives and girlfriends who give up their lives (happily) to go on tour. But the truth is that most men don't want to follow a woman in the same way. I think that's what happened to Annika Sorenstam's marriage.

move on
[Read the article: Should I invite my difficult friends to the in-laws' lake house?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I'm sorry the husband has a problem, it sucks for him, but it is pathetic that your friend married him. I went through a similar situation with a outgoing, somewhat pushy friend and a somewhere-on-the-autism-sprectrum husband. After 2 years of hearing how the husband wouldn't talk to her, only played video games, didn't lift a finger in the house, wouldn't go anywhere socially, wouldnt' come see the community plays she wrote that got performed, wouldnt' go to church because it was "too crowded", wouldn't change diapers, kept the babysitter on duty while he was there watching video games, wouldnl't learn how to feed the kids, etc. etc. etc. These are the conversations you will have with your friend and it will just get worse if she compounds the mistake by having kids. Time to go your separate ways and a good place to start is the beachhouse.
