The Browser caused me to leave the room.

The beta design is HORRIBLE and should not be used as the final design. Here's why: the red banner is too bright, distracts the eye from the page; the article heads show no apparent topic organization; articles I could be interested in appear too far down the page, causing me to scroll, which I'm not likely to do. Furthermore, "Top Features:" is not features but columnists.

All and all, the look is not a good design. I can't possibly believe that Salon user tested this design. If you did it was a failure IMHO.

Olbermann Healthcare Statement

I think Olbermann made a diligent effort to illustrate the immorality of our current healhcare system. However, I suspect he was mostly preaching to the choir and not the general public. For I believe and am convinced that the general public is not concerned about healthcare until it is one of them. For instance, how long did it take and how many died and continue to die, for lack of AIDS research and medical care. How about breast cancer? How about strong support for anti-smoking legislation?

All of the un-insured walk a narrow line of health until it fails, then too bad, so sad.

What happens to healthcare

is that it's dead this year and possibly forever. I think Feingold hit the nail dead center. There is just too much money from insurers, hospitals, pharma, and doctors working to prevent a significant overhaul of our horrible health care system. Of course, our current system works as long as one has enough resources to pay. But change, any change, indeed change offered by Obama, is anathema to this system that costs so much and delivers so little. I think Kennedy's funeral will be the metaphor for health care this decade.

Bishops and healthcare

Care more about homosexual marriage than they do about care for the needy in the US.

Original article: My evil iPhone

AT&T not iPhone the problem

and as soon as I can leave the AT&T network with or without my iPhone I will. I can, occasionally, use it in my apartment--most of the time NOT. So much for the wireless connectivity era. Yes, trying to write and send a message is cumbersome at best, but mostly hit or miss. However, using the Wi-Fi and the GPS and the internet is the best. I do hope Verizon pushes for iPhone connectivity because when they can--I'm GONE.

Original article: The trans bathroom debate

The Trans Bathroom dilemna

For me the deciding factor is quite simple: there should be no 'dicks' in women's space. This means those who are not transsexual, who have NOT crossed the divide should not be allowed in any space where their birth gender would be obvious. On the other hand, those who've not made the change ought to be allowed to use restroom facilities of their gender presentation.

Not So Fast

Have you ever waited and waited for a Google App or Gmail or Google Groups, or G Calendar to respond? Imagine, if you will, what it will be like for 20 million users to access their app and files over an even moderate broadband connection. Then compare this with the response of editing your doc on a desktop app. I, for one, will not be jumping for Chrome joy any time soon.

Original article: "Public Enemies"

Bored enough to

to fall asleep in several places. My eyes are sore from all the imitation hand held, un-steady SteadyCam work. The HD sucks compared to 35mm quality and added nothing but more distraction. Onthe other hand, the sound track and sound editing was very interesting. Leaving Bale out of the movie would have Improved it. No awards for this flick except for maybe some of the technical aspects.

Movies and Netflix online

Most of the streaming videos from Netflix are the low quality, low budget variety. These are movies I wouldn't pay to see at anytime. Further, I've been a heavy Netflix user over the years and have run out of movies I'd like to see from them. For instance, I've 5 in Q of which I've been waiting for for several weeks, movies I could rent from Hollywood Vid. On the other hand, I've 65 movies in Q I'd like to watch, many I've learned about from you Andrew, but are not on DVD and are ones I'd pay to have streamed.

Additionally, I've found Hulu to be great for TV and lousy for quality movies.

Why I wouldn't leave the "O'Reilly Factor"

No guts, plain and simple. A guy would either have poked him in the face or walked off the set, period. Why be his punching bag?

O'Reilly is the one with blood

on his hands. He is guilty as the murderer. He should be treated as an accomplice, before the fact, and brought to justice.

Dr. Tiller's cold blooded murder

requires the ultimate punishment for the perpetrator. There IS no justification for the hate spewed by the anti-abortion crowd. They are ALL guilty of murdering Dr. Tiller and should be called to account with out fail. Anti-abortionist hide their guilt behind their GOD as justification for their actions and activities. And, the murder campaign championed by the anti-abortionists should be halted, now.

"Gathering Storm" with Southern Accent

Not only did the ad emphasize Afro-Amer actors the narrator used a clearly 'Southern White Male' accent rather the the New York that I expected. Sounds like the narrator was from Virginia. This assault on our freedoms won't end until the SCOTUS decides one way or the other for us all. And, even then half the country won't be happy.

Landline Quality

remains better than cell service in my area. This is especially true if you're an AT&T/iPhone customer. And for the most part, copper provides better voice quality than VoIP--still. Cellular voice connections that don't drop, allow duplex comm without interference, and provide voice clarity have arrived.

Where as all the lending gone, long time passsssing.

Federal intervention and majority ownership and control of the top 10 or so banks would fix this problem in a heart beat. But, NO, the administration doesn't want to use the 'N' word.
