Original article: Mitt Romney's money machine

Just What America Needs!

We need a one term, cut and run former Mass Governor, flip-flopping multi-millionaire, so I say less the Mormon throw down as much of his own cash as he wants to in his run to overturn Roe vs. Wade, to oppose gay rights, to oppose the Matthew Shepard Act, to oppose universal health care, to oppose affordable prescription drug, to oppose immigration reform, to oppose worker's unions, to support privatizing social security, to support the current strategy and course in the war in Iraq, to support torture, to support doubling the size of Gitmo, and to support warrant-less wiretapping.

The fact that he spends his own money justifies his having every one of his positions. Money talks, but its his money.

Personally I hope this inspires Bill Gates' to spend a Billion dollar of his own money in a run to make himself the American president, but seeing as the Chinese Paramount Leader visits Bill Gates before he talks to the American president, I think Bill Gates knows that he is already more powerful than the American president.

The Industry!

"I thought modeling was degrading and exploitative, especially of young women."

Modeling in and of itself isn't degrading and exploitative, but the way that models are often treated by the industry is. We would have to know more about the Afghan modeling industry before we can make a judgment of it.

Sad, and why?

This saddens me, in that I found Malaysia to be an unexpected paradise, where the majority Muslim Malays got along quite well with the minority Chinese Christians and Buddhists. Also when I was there I saw a lot of women wearing very revealing clothing, so I cannot understand why they would have a dress code for performers.

I consider Malaysia to be the world's only Islamic nation with a functional Democracy, so hopefully these stage decency standards will be addressed in their upcoming elections.

To anonymous 07:16 PM

"what about Turkey, you forgot Turkey?"

I have heard that Turkey treats it's Kurdish minority pretty horribly.

Actually I have never been to Turkey, so I really don't know. I have been to Malaysia many times, and every time I visited Malaysia, I was pleasantly impressed.

Thailand and Singapore are also a lot of fun, as long as you stay away from drugs (I don't know that from personal experience, but everyone I know who dabbled in drugs got in big trouble). Viet Nam is awesome, but I was too afraid to travel by road through Cambodia or Laos to get to Viet Nam from Thailand (and visa versa).

To Glenn

"I wish I could write more about this but I must honor the New Rule that we may not "attack the honor and integrity of members of the United States Armed Forces.""

Glenn, there was never time in which it was acceptable to attack the honor and integrity of members of the United States Armed Forces. The swiftboaters that attacked Kerry were extremely shameful.

However you came up with the best attack against Mr. Groenhagen when you brought it to light that he is not a real Marine. Nothing pisses off Marines more than a fake Marine (I am not a Marine, but I do know a lot of Marines). In any case it is acceptable to politely point out the truth if a real serviceman or servicewoman (regardless of branch) is mistaken about something. and yes, you can always attack the integrity and honor (or lack there of) of civilian leadership, no matter who you are?

And Glenn, discussing the military is a journalist's job, and I as a serviceman want to read more of your reporting.

Small correction!

And yes, you can always attack the integrity and honor (or lack there of) of civilian leadership, no matter who you are!!!

To DurianJoe

"To each their own.

Personally, I think Beyonce should have the right to dress like a whore when she sings. I also would hope that she and other female performers would choose not to exercise that right."

Joe, I have been mulling over what you wrote all day today, and I have come to the conclusion that I agree with you entirely on both points you made.

We should not try to force our values onto the people of Malaysia, and a woman should have the right to dress like a sex worker on stage, in America, if she wants to. I think it is possible to hold both principles and not be a hypocrite.

In America I would fight to the death to protect Beyonce's right to show her navel on stage if she wants to, and though I will suggest that Malaysia should change its policy regarding public performance dress codes, giving a suggestion is as far as I will go to express my opinion to the people of Malaysia. To do more would be against my principles of non-interference in the social issues of a nation that does not pose a threat to my nation.

But Joe, just because a woman wants to show her navel does mean that she is trying to act like a whore (but I got what you were saying).
